Rev Happy Fun — Such a fun car. Owned it for almost 8 years. It broke but that was probably due to heavy abuse. It left me stranded once when the belts decided to shred 2 hours from home but equipped with a 10mm and 13mm wrench it was fixed easily with a stop at an auto parts store.

Pros: Great Car, Reliable, Will take plenty of abuse and keep on going.

Cons: May cause you to skip out on other responsibilities.

Turbo Charged Oldschool — The car still retains many of the features which made it the classic sports car it is today! The whole theme of the car is to maintain the classic looks but with the added punch of much more modern components. These include improvements of handling through eiback sports suspension all round including pi brace bars at the front. The engine is highly modified with a Garrett T28 turbo and uprated ignition system. Car pushes about 165 Bhp with a 0 - 60 time of about 7sec. Its not blistering but really is usable power and great fun to drive.

Pros: Classic looks and bags of fun to drive

Cons: Hard suspension and sadly the "hairdresser" image which plagues this classsic sports car

Most Fun For The Dollar, Ever — A lot of people have told me these early Miatas were underpowered. A lot of people don't know how to drive a high spirited 4 cyl engine. The engine had a red line of nearly 6,000 rpm and didn't even begin it's peak torque until 4,000 rpm. Starting at 4,000 it would jump to 5,500. If you kept the engine in that rpm range, it had all the power you could ask for. Thing is, at 4,000 rpm in fifth gear, you were going 80 mph. But, at 80 mph it would set you back, if you stomped on it.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: 257,000 Trouble Free Miles and the guy who bought it from me is still driving the heck out of it.

Cons: She did have a tendency to skip a bit in tight turns if it was a bit rough.

It´s Fun — I like that it´s cheap to run, very reliable and very fun to drive, it´s got everything you need on it, but still it needs to be just that bit more practical and fast. It handles very well.

Pros: good handling, fun, economical

Cons: not so fast

Fun Driving Toy — This little MX5 guy is fun to drive. Gas mileage of 25 mpg seems a bit low for the size but I can live with it. Bought it to replace a motorcycle and find it a similar though different experience. Shifts well and while the acceleration is only acceptable (it is not torquey nor powerful like a Honda 2000) the handling is tight. One can grip the road through a curve while accelerating. More room for the driver than one may expect. Minimal storage, but can carry enough for a weekend get away tooling through back country roads to a destination. NOT a bad weather car as rear wheel drive will break traction and slide on wet leaves, but a small convertable should not be deemed a winter vehicle anyway. Good summer part time toy.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: fun to drive, good value for the money, has been dependable

Cons: no storage but also knew that before purchase

I Have One, Need I Say More? — this is a real sports car, light, simple; easy to drive... except when you decide to go really fast, then it can oversteer on corners and scare you if you don't know what you are doing. The fun of driving fast in a slow car such as this one far outweighs the fun of trying to go slow in a really fast car. its usually cheaper too.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: sweet handling

Cons: your mother in law will hate it

Speedupspeedy says:
Very fun car to drive, but I wish to have a little bit more horsepower. Also the common problem on the trunk, if you have or you want to buy a convertible top Miata, you must be very careful to the trunk as when raining, the water gonna go into the trunk. And the seat is a bit small and not much adjustment you can do. Overall, Miata has the advantages on valve, cornering, the ability to drift and, it is a very good car to begin learning how to drive a stick shift.

1991 Mazda MX-5 Miata Special Review
rayroberts853 says:
The 1991 Special I have isn’t truly a special edition as it is custom. However the car is very fun with a 5 speed manual that makes you shift every 3 seconds or less. It’s not fast, but you’ll feel like you are. Throwing down the top is a breeze but putting it up can sometimes take some fiddling with, not difficult though. The pop up headlights are very cool and they don’t have any big difference in lighting to integrated headlights. My biggest complaints with the car is 1. It has some of the worst cup holder spots ever, you can barely work the shifter with cups there. 2. The seats are stiff but that could be age. And 3. At 60+ mph the car vibrates a good amount and revs past 3K rpm so I’m always a little hesitant to put it on the interstate either way a very fun car
