My Toy — Fast fast fast...... Awsome acceleration and perfect handling. the turbo is the best thing to ever happen. Just wish the apex seals were more durable but there are new ines available that are supposed to be bullet proof. Gas mileage is better than any eight cylinder with the power behind it. Can't wait to get it back on the road . now on engine #3

Pros: fast unique engine configuation.

Cons: expensive rebuild...but all worth it inthe end

Rx7 Convertibles Rock! — Performance? 150 hp rotary in a mustang weight car, it is a rotary so you can rev high, but it is not a drag racer... Quality? Great for a 20 year old car that I beat on! Appearance? Gotta love a convertible sports car! Cost? $500 then added exhaust and a transmission.... next paint Fun?? Ohmigod! Mountain roads are a BLAST!!!

Pros: handles like on rails, beautiful and fun

Cons: Needs a turbo or supercharged engine... in the future

Fc - Rx7 — The performance from just stock was amazing. All of the above was just amazing from the acceleration to the braking to the handling for a 80's car. This car was built for performance! The 13b turbo soved to be high in the rev's and the possibilitys as far as modifying it to go faster was endless!!! Build quality.... Well everybody said that I would have nothing but dramas with it breaking down etc.. but never had any problems with it at all, apart from general wear and it wasn't like I didn't drive it hard! It had to put up with me screaming up local mountain ranges and comps etc. Appearance - Sexy as hell!!! What can I say?! For an 80's car it is still appealing to many today! Cost of ownership.... was a killer! Insurance being an import $1000 and that is with an A1 rating and above the age of 25! Fuel bill.... put it this way it was only stock and now I get better fuel economy out of V6 4WD!!!! Parts and maintenance was fabulous because as long as you kept regular services on it and had a great mechanic I was fine. Fun factor .... I am lost for words.... just the best fun I could have ever had... If family wasn't on the cards for me ( being a 2 door) than I would have never got rid of it. Now I am onto new ventures of the 4WD and motorcycle kind to make up the void that the RX7 has left!!!! If it is not obvious I would definatly recommend this car to everyone! Just make sure that you do your research into it such as Insurance cost etc and get it checked out by a professional inspector before buying. Look for something that is in the most original condition and has not been in the hands of a dickhead that has the potential to thrash the poor thing to within an inch of its life!

Pros: All positives

Cons: No negitives - just as long as you do you homework!!

Rx7 Convertible — the Turbo engine give this car a great acceleration, and the handling os super, the appearance in this convertible is so smooth and beautiful that you can not compare this vehicle with any other, even thought the quality is not the best for a 20 year old car this car is very good and dependable. The cost is not that much and when you campare the cost and the fun factor, you will pay anything to have so much fun in this little car.

Pros: speed, fun, beautiful

Cons: small

Rx-7 — Looks great, but this model was fragile compared to my 1985 RX-7 which was studier. The 1988 was faster and handled better, but it sacrificed dependability.

Pros: Looks, power, handling

Cons: Reliability

Not For The Lazy, Or The Stupid — These cars are known for handling quite well, the engine wasn't very powerful granted it was a non-turbo model. i personally had mine to 145mph, it rode very nice and was controllable at speeds exceeding 100mph. RX-7's are usually equipped nicely, with interior comforts and nice array or performance options. the car was technology advanced for it's time with options that still are usually only seen in high end sports cars, such as dampening adjustments, and passive rear wheel steering. the car also came with an LSD. MSRP in 1988 was about $24,900

Pros: Fun to drive, sporty, huge aftermarket, obtainable, very reliable if you keep up on maintenance.

Cons: certain parts can be hard to find, also usually come with a hefty price tag, the car becomes extremely UN reliable if you do not take care of it. and getting engine work done is extremely expensive. and regardless of what they tell you. the mazda dealership is about the worst place to get them serviced. you need to fine someone with extensive rotary engine knowledge/experience

Smooth Engine, Good Power, Excellent Handling. Expensive Toy — I owned my FC for 8 months, this was the most enjoyable 8 months of my life. my FC was modified, with around 60+hp more than stock. It weighs around 1000 lbs less than your standard Mustang GT, but mine was much faster. quick spooling turbo, no LAG!, but life of these motors (turboed) range from 70K miles to 120K miles. higher boost lower mileage

Pros: Low maintence costs, quiet motor, responsive engine, excellent handling, lots of fun

Cons: engine upgrades, and replacement very expensive 4K-10K on adverage.

More Trouble Than It's Worth — rotary engines, although beautiful in design and a great powerplant, tend to be very, very finicky, and can cause a lot of expensive maintenance on almost a weekly basis. great design, great performance all around, but the mechanics need to be further honed by mazda and mercedez.

Pros: lots of potential

Cons: finicky engine, expensive parts
