1987 Porsche 944Review

Classic Show Car - 16 Valve Model - Very Rare — The engine is a design that is one half of the Porsche 928 engine. A balance shaft was added to steady the engine. This is a very unique design for its time. It is difficult to find many of this model left. There is a plastic shim that the valve chain rides over, that needs to be replaced with regular maintenance. Many people forget to do this. This is a #2-#3 rated Classic car. Pros: Ageless Classic Cons: none |

My Part Time Ride — New engine in and it is finally running great. Not only great for a 23 year old car, but running great. The only things that hold it back are me and the crappy goodyear tires that the tire rack recommended Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: awesome Cons: it loves money |

The Best Car For The Money — I'll get back to this. Performance – acceleration 9, braking 8, handling 10 Build Quality – has it needed repairs? Yes, total break system overhaul, blown differential in transmission Appearance – both exterior only two minor rust spots, some chips on the front facia and interior is virtually flawless, except the stereo was stolen out of it right before I purchased it. Cost of Ownership – gas mileage 9, maintenance 4 (parts are overpriced) Fun Factor – is this car fun to drive? The most fun car I've ever driven! Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.) Pros: 50/50 weight distribution, fun to drive, good gas milage, sounds runs great, head turner! Cons: The most negative things I can think of is the price of parts is rather steep compaired to other cars in this price range, and that it's not easy to add horsepower. |
