1985 Chevrolet Monte CarloReview

My 85 Monte Carlo — I love this car. I have owned it since 1993. It has a built 4.3 liter v6 that puts out about 300 hp. The trans is a beefed-up 700r4. It has a Detroit Truetrac differential with 3.73 gears. It is alot of fun, and it sounds like a built v8 when it is running. The cam is the largest grind that Comp Cams offers for the 4.3, and it has a great lope at idle. I wouldn't trade this car for the world. Future plans include headers, suspension improvements and a fresh paint job. Pros: Great body style, sounds awesome Cons: Handles corners like a barge |

Chevrolet Monte Carlo Ss — Drove for about 10 yrs. No problems! Just maintainance. Decided to upgrade the 305ci to a 350ci made a big difference. 1yr after upgrade had an engine fire and it melted the poorly made plastic blower housing which spread the fire into the passenger compartment. Total loss. Pros: Reliable Cons: cheaply made |

Not A Family Sedan — Handling is quite bad but, what can you expect from a car that was supposed to me a Demo Derby car. the car weighs about 4,500lbs stock but my dad reinforced the frame cause like I said it was supposed to be a demo derby car so the car weighs a ripe 7,250lbs now :O! But the raw power of this 1985 Monte Carlo CL 305 C.I. is definitely a fun car to drive. I bought this car for $100. These cars have a lot of potential like all muscle cars do. The imports are just jealous they cant shake the ground like the American Muscle can :] Pros: Heavy and very powerful if you have the right engine and trans. Cons: eats gas really bad and doesn't handle very well :[ |
