If You Are Looking For A Car Just To Get You Around, Then This Car Is For You. — I've had this car for a little over a year now, and have put about $800-$1000(aside from regular maintainence) dollars into it. That amount has replaced the starter, alternator, master cylinder, stereo and a few belts. Considering I bought the car for $525, that's not bad at all. However, I have one major problem with this car. It is damn near impossible to find reasonably priced replacment struts, which this car needs desperately. The struts on mine are electric, so they cost an arm and a leg. From the dealer, it would cost me $500 for each strut. Because of this unforunate fact, I am looking to buy a newer car. If money is no object, then I would reccommend this vehicle. It will get you where you need to go. Primary Use: Commuting to work Pros: It just keeps on going. Mine still has the original engine and (automatic)transmission, and even though it has over 300,000 miles, it continues to run. Also gets awesome MPG and is fun to drive. Cons: Because this car is nearly 30 years old, finding some of the parts at a decent price has been a bummer. ![]() Looking for a Used 626 in your area?CarGurus has 30 nationwide 626 listings starting at $1,988. |

1984 Mazda 626lx — My Mazda 626LX is a very humble appearing car. It looks not much different than many other Asian imports from the 1980's but I did love this car. It had a really nice navy blue interior. It was one of the first cars to ever have adjustable gas shocks that you could set to "sport" or "normal" or let it decided what was best depending on speed. It also had a large EQ on the stock stereo and little joystick on the center console to control the speaker balance and fade. The handling, although not amazing, was predictable. It was easy and fun to drive and didn't me down. This car was amazing for getting through snow as long as the tires had good tread of course. This car is by no means a fast car, but considering it only came with 83 horsepower, I found it did quite well. I did need to shift the automatic transmission manually to use the power it did have, but that only made it more fun. The sedan versions of this car have a much taller and more upright look to them, but since I had the coupe it has a much sleeker and lower look. The seating position in this car is very comfortable. Reliability of this car is very good. It now has 370,000 KM on the odometer and still runs smooth. Pros: reliability, features, handling Cons: low on power |

Very Hardy Machine — Very Advanced for its time. Handled well, ride quality was decent. And carb engine was full of verve. Interior specs were also good and had electric toys that were only available on most cars of the category much later. Pros: Very hardy and reliable. Cons: For its time can't think of any really. |
