Great Truck. — I bought this truck new in 1978 and it's on it's second engine, mileage about 280,000, second transmission and third transfer case. It goes through U~Joints, (it has six of them) more often than I think it should. It came from factory with a 2bbl and at the time Warranties were only 12,000 miles or 12 months. So after warranty ran out I put an Edelbrock intake and a Holley 600cfm and gave me noticeable more HP

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Powerful, dependable as can be expected for a 1978

Cons: 9mpg. and only 16 gallon tank.

I Love It — its rough and tough. its gonna be what my wood hauler and i will pull trailer with it. its a work in progress. it was made when they build good vehicles, new stuff is to complicated and overpriced. built ford tough with a dana 60 rear and dana 44 straght axle front, and yes its a 3/4 ton with the same amount of springs as 1 ton.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: its awesome

Cons: none

Every One Knows It — Been Around for 30 years. Dad bought it new in 78. Has a built 460 w/ C-6. Dana 60's F/R 4:10 Gears. Done everything you could think of and some you cant. Old Fords are the best Run Forever. Best Manufacturer. Fords forever. First On Race Day.

Pros: All

Cons: Nature Took its Toll

This Is A Great Truck For The Money — I absolutely love this truck. I thought it looks like a redneck truck....well it does....but I love it anyway. The truck has a ton of power, and with no cats or mufflers...the truck sounds awesome

Pros: Power, sound

Cons: 4 speed tranny.  Can't go too fast on the freeway

Truck I Had In Highschool — 1978 f-250 with a 351 in it. 33in mudding tires and a 3in lift. it was a pretty sweet truck when i had it but was really hard on gas so i sold it to my brother and he uses it as his work truck now.

Pros: awesome truck

Cons: hard on gas

1978 F-series Truck — love everything about it..its been a great truck and a fun one to restore. ford nailed it when they built this style of truck when it comes to body lines, the truck looks, how it rides for being a 3/4 ton and the performance...nothing i dont love about it

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: looks and fun to drive

Cons: nothing really...no flaws in the build of the truck

1978 F-250 Custom W/low Gear Manual. 4x4 Long Bed Single Cab. — One of the most reliable trucks I've ever had, all The original equipment still works from factory. A/C, radio, speedo and gauges, lights. Not a luxury vehicle but a good dependable work horse. Wouldn't ever trade for any other work truck.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Dependable, tough, long lasting.

Cons: Rattles and lacks good insulation
