Keep On Keepin' On... — Liked that it was reliable (even after the timing belt broke; nothing was damaged and a new belt had it back on the road). Didn't like the paint, lack of power, and the stigma of being a Pinto owner was hard to deal with as a kid.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Good first car (got it graduation day on my way to high school graduation).
Car purchased used for my cousin, she sold it to my grandpa as a farm car, he gave it to my mom to give to me for high school graduation gift and I left it for my sister to drive in high school. I wasn't flashy, fast or worth a crap; but it took a beating and kept on going.

Cons: Oxidized brown over orange paint was horrible..
Transmission crapped out; put another one in and couldn't get gear oil in so it ran with 30 weight for a few years.

Very Good Car — It is a great car for kicking around town. your not going to burn rubber off the light, but you will draw attention cruising around in it as people see it and relive a little of their youth. its a reliable car and the motors will live forever. maintenance is so easy under the hood the car is wide open (partially because of the tiny motor). great car. i would recommend to anybody.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: this car runs like a dream. even at 40 years old I would not worry a bit about taking a road trip in this car, and it is good on gas.   it also has a sizable trunk for your baggage.

If you like attention you will love driving one of these it doesn't matter where you go somebody will stop to talk to you about it, or at the least give you a thumbs up as your drive down the road.

Cons: im 6' 5" and it is a little cramped on the inside for me.

Perfect First Car — I drove my Pinto into the ground and when I was done with it the guy I sold it to put in a new camshaft and drove it for another 5-6 years. You just can't really kill a Pinto...they always come back...the original zombie!!!

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: Total beater cars...you get a great one or you don't. Pros are just about any part from Pinto, Bobcat, Mustang or Capri fits. Parts are cheap. Repairs are easy!

Cons: Kinda funky little car...no REAL cons

Great Basic Little Car; Fun To Drive; 2l Engine Economical And Very Reliable. — A lot of people make out the Pinto as a joke. However, I thought mine was nothing short of fabulous. I bought a '72 Pinto new in September of '72 after my Fiat bankrupted me. It was a 'Bare-Bones' unit, with the 2.0L engine, 4-Speed manual. I beat the thing unmercifully for four years and 84,000 miles and it NEVER broke or let me down. I'd love to have another some day!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Engine and Transmission were Bullet-Proof.

Cons: The rear seat was a little cramped for full-sized adults.

First Car — I loved the crank-open sunroof! I'd open it in mid-winter and then blast the heat in the car. A little slice of heaven when it's you're first car ; ) It was a 4-speed, medium blue with a dark blue vinyl roof.

Pros: sunroof

Cons: sunroof was a crank-open

First Car I Owned — How can you talk bad about your first car? Yeah there were things wrong with it (this one didn't have the ejecting gas tank) but if it ever stranded me anywhere, I could fold down the seats and sleep in the back.

Pros: Easy maintenance, and cheap too.

Cons: 65mph top speed, everything you had to touch was plated in chrome searing, evil chrome, adn lastly no A/C yikes!
