1970 Ford LTD Review
says:
Just got this car as a 2 door hard top in April 2016. Had my eye on 1971s and 72s, but fell upon the 70 quite by accident and immediately fell in love with that beautiful front grille with the hidden headlights. I knew I was looking for something early 70s, but seeing this car in black cinched my decision. Its spacious, roomy, commands the road, and is a smooth road cruiser in every sense of the word. Those are the pros. The cons are the lousy gas mileage, but what do you expect from an era when gas was only $0.20/gal? If you wish to drive something like this on a regular basis, you just have to think of it as budgeting the fuel costs as part of your monthly entertainment costs. So instead of going out to eat and going to the movies, you pay to drive around in a big land sled and thats your entertainment. If you look at in those terms, then the fuel costs dont seem quite so bad. Other notable issues Ive noticed with the car is the tendency to flood with the stock, original carburetor. This car definitely does better on long road trips than multiple short errands around town. It does not like to be shut down and restarted 5 times in 30 minutes-- at temperatures above 80°F.
Handling Ranked 1968 Ford Galaxie worse.
"It steered straighter and the suspension feels tighter. But then again it may be more a difference between those individual cars, and not so much a difference in the models and years."
Value Ranked 1968 Ford Galaxie better.
"I got my 68 for cheaper than I paid for the 70."

Ghastly — I drove this car as a teenager and it was typical of the poor engineering of US cars of that time. Sloppy steering, poor weight distribution and a mercurial carburetor which was easy to flood. I drove it again in my early twenties when I had the mixed blessing of inheriting it from my Dad. I did get it to 100 mph (give or take 10 because the speed gauge would shake) but overall I suffer from no nostalgia for the crap Detroit made back then.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: It's no longer made

Cons: Weight was all up front with the engine

I Love My Big Green Bean — Drives like a big smooth boat on water... More power than anyone else on the road around me and way more style! Perfect for the drive in or a cruise to the beach with 6 or 7 of your closest friends.

Pros: The size, I can fit so many people.

Cons: The size, parking spaces are so small nowadays

1970 Ford — I miss my green 1970 Ford LTD Brougham. One of the best cars ever made. They should make solid cars like this one again. Liked that the driver controlled the radio. The vacuum hideaway headlamps, and that regal looking grille.

Pros: Everything

Cons: None

My First Car — It was the largest car my father could find to put me in. It was like bringing the Queen Mary into dry dock. It had an engine you couldn't kill and I could beat every car in the neighborhood. At he local track I was always first off the line. Horrible on gas, easy to fix and maintain, no computer chips or boards.

Pros: I never got hurt, could fit fifteen comfortably

Cons: got four gallons to the mile and had to sit on pillow to see over the dash
