Reviews SummaryHyundai redesigned the popular Palisade three-row sport utility vehicle for the 2026 model year. Already one of the best three-row crossover SUVs in America, Hyundai left no stone unturned in its quest to make the 2026 Palisade the best version yet. Verdict: The 2026 Hyundai Palisade is an improvement over the outgoing version it replaces in every meaningful way. Consider the Palisade a top choice if you’re in the market for a three-row SUV that’s comfortable for the whole family. And if you’re planning to spend some time in the dirt, take a look at the new-for-2026 Palisade XRT Pro.
Reviews SummaryAutomakers have traditionally had a hard time making money on entry-level subcompact cars, because they have low profit margins, but America has largely moved away from cars to crossover SUVs—and higher prices. That allows car companies to offer an entry-level subcompact SUV for thousands more than a similar sedan or hatchback. Such is the case with the Hyundai Venue, which costs more than its predecessor, the subcompact Accent that was dropped after the 2022 model year. While the price is higher, the advantage for buyers is a vehicle that generally has more cargo space and is more practical. We recently drove the 2026 Hyundai Venue SEL w/2-Tone Roof (yes, that’s the trim level name) to find out if a subcompact crossover is a better buy than a cheaper subcompact car. Verdict: The Hyundai Venue sacrifices refinement for a price point that isn’t as low as a comparable subcompact car. We’d be tempted to spend a little more for a slightly larger compact car with more power, features, and refinement.

The 2026 Hyundai Palisade underwent significant design changes, maintaining its recognizable identity while adopting a more upright and squared-off profile. Its standout feature was the bold front lighting, with rectangular slashes flanking a massive grille, giving it a distinctive appearance. Inside, the Palisade embraced a Midcentury Modern aesthetic with flowing shapes and simple lines, creating a refined and relaxing environment. The interior materials in the top-spec Calligraphy model were of high quality, offering texture variance, while the off-road-oriented XRT Pro model also featured durable materials. The Palisade grew in size, with a 2.5-inch longer body and a 2.7-inch extended wheelbase, accommodating seven or eight passengers depending on the configuration.
In contrast, the 2026 Hyundai Venue was classified as a crossover SUV, though it resembled a tall hatchback. It offered only front-wheel drive and had a ground clearance of 6.7 inches, making it more car-like in height. The Venue's design leaned towards a small and narrow appearance, with SUV cues like a bluff nose and roof rails. The interior was simple and functional, featuring a digital instrument cluster and a small touchscreen. The Venue's compact size made it easy to maneuver in tight spaces, but it lacked the spaciousness and premium feel of the Palisade.

The 2026 Hyundai Palisade was equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 287 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. While it made slightly less power than its predecessor, it remained competitive against rivals like the Chevrolet Traverse and Ford Explorer. The eight-speed automatic transmission provided smooth shifts, and the Palisade's ride was comfortable yet controlled. The suspension offered good isolation from road imperfections, and the brakes were upgraded for improved stopping power. The Palisade's towing capacity was 5,000 pounds, and it featured Hyundai's HTRAC AWD system with various driving modes for different terrains. The XRT Pro model received off-road enhancements, including increased ground clearance and all-terrain tires. A hybrid powertrain was also announced, promising a total system output of 329 horsepower.
In contrast, the 2026 Hyundai Venue was powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine producing 121 horsepower and 113 pound-feet of torque. It was one of the least powerful vehicles on the market, with a 0-60 mph time of 8.5–8.8 seconds. The Venue's lightweight design contributed to its peppy feel in city driving, but it struggled at highway speeds. The continuously variable transmission (CVT) provided stepped gear ratios, but heavy throttle caused engine noise. The Venue's small size and low weight made it agile in traffic, but its ride was less refined due to a solid rear axle.
The 2026 Hyundai Palisade offered a spacious and comfortable interior, with options for captain's chairs or a second-row bench seat. The third row was accessible but required some maneuvering for taller passengers. USB-C charging ports and cupholders were available throughout the cabin, and the climate-control system was upgraded for 2026. The Palisade allowed for flexible seating configurations, with heated and ventilated seats in higher trims. Cargo space was generous, with up to 86.7 cubic feet available with the third-row seats folded flat.
The 2026 Hyundai Venue featured cloth and synthetic leather seats with manual adjustments. While comfortable, the Venue's interior was compact, with limited legroom for taller passengers. The rear seat could accommodate two adults, but three would be cramped. The Venue offered 31.9 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded, but it was less than typical compact crossovers. The interior materials were budget-friendly, with hard black plastic dominating the cabin.
The 2026 Hyundai Palisade featured a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch color touchscreen for infotainment. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were standard, and higher trims offered a head-up display and a Surround View Monitor camera system. Integrated dashcams and an in-car intercom were also available. The Palisade's Bose audio system provided excellent sound quality.
The 2026 Hyundai Venue came with an 8-inch touchscreen for basic infotainment functions. While lacking features like navigation and a Wi-Fi hotspot, it offered wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Venue's audio system was a simple six-speaker unit, and the digital instrument cluster displayed limited information.
The 2026 Hyundai Palisade offered a comprehensive suite of driver-assist features, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency braking. While safety ratings were not available at press time, the previous version performed well. The Palisade's advanced safety tech included Highway Driving Assist and evasive steering assist in higher trims.
The 2026 Hyundai Venue provided standard safety features like forward-collision warning and lane-keep assist. However, it lacked adaptive cruise control. The Venue received a four-star safety rating from the NHTSA, and its headlights were rated "Acceptable" or "Marginal" by the IIHS.
