The Volvo S60 gets an updated, Google-based infotainment system for the 2023 model year, plus a new trim lineup.

The 2023 Volvo S60 is a dynamic and sophisticated premium sedan with seating for five and a handsome, muscular design. It provides 11.6 cubic feet of trunk space, which is on the small side for the class. For 2023, the trim names have been shaken up and the touchscreen is home to an updated Google-based infotainment system.

Trims for the Volvo S60 are Core, Plus, and Ultimate. Standard features on the Core trim include 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, synthetic leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, a panoramic sunroof, four USB ports, and a 10-speaker audio system. The Core also comes equipped with a fully digital instrument panel and a center touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Moving up to the Plus trim adds adaptive LED fog lights, front and side parking sensors, adaptive LED fog lights, and a surround-view parking camera. It also comes with genuine leather upholstery and ambient interior lighting.

The range-topping Ultimate trim adds 19-inch alloy wheels, an in-trunk power outlet, an in-cabin air purifier, a 14-speaker Harmon Kardon premium audio system, and a head-up display. The S60 is also available with a 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, a Climate Package (adding heated front seats and a heated steering wheel), and a Black Edition (adding dark wheels and dark exterior accents).

The 2023 Volvo S60 features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine which makes 247 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed through an eight-speed automatic transmission to the front wheels or to available all-wheel drive (AWD).

The front-wheel-drive (FWD) version of the Volvo S60 returns EPA-estimated fuel economy of 26 mpg city, 35 highway, and 30 combined. The AWD version returns 25 mpg city, 33 highway, and 28 combined. Premium fuel is recommended.

The Volvo S60 comes equipped with forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, and it can detect cyclists, pedestrians, and even large animals. Other safety features on the S60 include rear parking sensors, traffic-sign recognition, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and rain-sensing wipers. It’s available with adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, and adaptive LED fog lights.
