You'd be hard-pressed to find a vehicle that offers more interior storage space, entertainment options, and family-oriented features than the 2008 Town and Country, and that's just the way Chrysler likes it. While the 2008 Town and Country received some exterior updates, such as a new grille and cleaner, more contemporary lines, drivers don't buy this functional minivan for its good looks. They buy it to transport Mom, Dad, the kids, the pets, friends, family, and all their associated gear to wherever they need to go. And Chrysler has responded for 2008 by adding even more features and options that make the Town and Country one of the best equipped and most functional minivans available today.
One of the Town and Country's new optional features is Swivel 'n' Go seating, which enables passengers to swivel the second-row captain's chairs 180 degrees to face the third-row seat, so kids can talk and play games on the removable table included with the Swivel 'n' Go option. Other seating options include the Town and Country's popular Stow 'n' Go seating and a third-row power-folding seat, giving drivers a number of available seating configurations.
The Town and Country also comes equipped with a wide range of storage bins and map pockets, including storage space in the sliding side doors. Drivers who require even more space can opt for the three-part premium center console with a sliding upper tray, and they can even add an umbrella holder to the equipment list.
But wait, there's more. The Town and Country also offers a number of "infotainment" options for 2008, including a rear dual DVD entertainment system, Sirius Backseat TV with family programming, Sirius satellite radio, a nine-speaker Infinity audio system, and the MyGIG Multimedia Infotainment System, which includes a 20-gigabyte hard drive for storing songs, photos, and more.
In a nod to eco-friendly drivers, the Town and Country comes with a 175-horsepower, 3.3-liter six-cylinder engine with FlexFuel capability, so it can accept E85 gasoline, a blend of 85 percent Ethanol and 15 percent unleaded gas. Drivers can also choose from a 197-horsepower 3.8-liter V6 or a 240-horsepower 4.0-liter V6. The 3.3-liter engine links to a four-speed automatic transmission, while the other engines link to a six-speed automatic.
Drivers and reviewers have noted that, in the past, the Town and Country has handled better than many SUVs, although some have noted that braking and acceleration could be improved. For 2008, the Town and Country comes equipped with independent suspension, so it rides smoothly over rough roads, and an Electronic Stability Program, which improves handling and braking in emergency situations. Some drivers have also noted that the Town and Country has suffered from reliability issues in the past, although the vehicle's reliability has improved in recent years.
What owners say
"Owners generally appreciate the Chrysler Town & Country for its spacious interior and family-friendly features, highlighting its comfort, entertainment options, and practicality for longer trips. However, some have pointed out issues like fuel efficiency and underwhelming performance."
As a family vehicle, this van is perfect. It seats 7 and all rows of seats push button stow for easy loading. We even once transported a twin bed with no problems! Once you sit behind the wheel, any thoughts of "not wanting to be a soccer mom" go out the window because it is pure luxury and comfort for all members of the family.
December 6, 2014I love everything about this van. I have owned several Dodge/Chrysler minivans. They are the best value for your dollar. I have owned three now that I have driven over 220k miles and would have probably gone further if not for wrecks.
February 21, 2023I only drove this at night, but oddly for an American car, it has FWD. The engine was a V6 that had little more than 5 HP. Took about 5 seconds at full throttle to get to 35 MPH.

February 6, 2008This car is amazing. It's like having a home entertainment on wheels. The six speed transmission is a huge improvement over the old 4 speed. The swivle seats and table are also really fun for longer trips. I think the best feature is the ability to have 3 different a/v options playing at one time. Radio for the people in the front, and then two additional seperate movies/music or a/v items for the two additional wireless headphones in the back.
August 5, 2008This car is comfort incarnate. It is perfect for long trips with a big family and lots of luggage. I have the double DVD-screens in the roof and we use those all the time. I think that a car with such a big engine should have even better performance. But I guess that cheap fuel in the US is a factor there.
November 21, 2011Like the style and functionality. Easy to store seats and create lots of cargo space. Interior colors are too light and get dirty quickly. Limo lighting is attractive but rattles a lot. Stereo with internal storage is awesome. Actually fun to drive.
August 21, 2013I love all the features, it will be nice to have GPS device. But I’m planning to upgrade the radio in near future.
