Not too much changed for the classic BMW M5 sedan in 2008. The main changes come in the form of some exterior and interior updates. The M5 also gets a new 7 speed sequential manual gearbox and comes in one Base trim.
The 2008 BMW M5 gets going in a hurry with its impressive 5.0 L, 500 hp V10 engine with optional 6 speed manual transmission. Gas mileage comes out to 12 mpg in the city and 18 on the highway. The Base trim has 4 doors, seats 5, and offers standard sunroof, air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, power/leather seats, cd player, navigation system, ABS brakes, stability control, and traction control.
Overall, the BMW M5 has maintained its spot atop the high performance sedan market, although it no longer occupies the throne. The gearbox gets criticized as a bit rough and comes off as not as responsive as it could be. Despite the end of its automotive supremacy, the current version of the M5 can still run with the top dogs in the industry.

Beautiful engine, naturally aspirated V10 going all the way up to 8500 rpm with a nice 507 bhp on a most brilliant rear wheel drive chassis. SMG gearbox has its flaws but not much to complain about, except that you have to press "M" to unlock the best of it. Oh and the annoying satnav, and the dodgy bluetooth... Build quality is what you'd expect from the manufacturer. Feul economy is nothing to get happy about, but it's a V10. The punchline? One of the best cars ever.Aug 23, 2010

There is nothing to disslike on this car! Absolutely nothing! Performance, top speed, acceleration, braking, styling, comfor, 5 seets, ryms 21`... It is the best, and the fastest street licenced BMW ever! You will whatch every other car in your rear view mirror, ofcourse if yo are doing 300, but if your doing 360 what the top speed is, you wont see any thing behind you acept the tarmac that you are on :)Sep 16, 2009

The car was amazing to drive. There is no substitute for the V-10. The car fairly easy to drive and the response was phenomenal. It is a very fun car to drive; handles like a sports car with the size of a full sedan. The cost, on the other hand, is not so nice and fun. The MSRP for that particular M5 was priced at $95,000. Quand on approche de la M5, y'a absolument rien de son style qui pourrait nous laisser croire que c'est LA berline de luxe sportive.La carosserie est la meme que toutes les autres Serie 5 a quelques details prets.En s'approchant plus, on commence a apercevoir le petit sigle M sur l'aile avant, ensuite on remarque que les roues sont plutot gigantesque pour une Serie 5 et finalement en faisant le tour de la voiture on appercoit les 4 pots d'echappements qui font sortir les gaz brules du V10 qui se trouve a l'avant.Plutot discret, et pour etre honnete c'est tant mieux comme ca.Parce qu'une Serie 5 de toute facon c'est pas ce qui se fait de plus subtil et de plus distingue.Les lignes de la carosserie sont aiguise au laser.C'est le fameux "flame surfacing" du designer Bangle.Certain voudrait le voir bruler au bucher, mais moi j'adore ce qu'il a fait aux voitures de BMW.Il a apporte un vent de jeunesse et de modernite a la marque qui disons le en avait bien besoin.Maintenant BMW se distingue vraiment de ses rivals Mercedes-Benz et Audi.Ce style disons ose, va tres bien aux BMW d'autant plus que dans le cas de la M5 les performances sont la pour autoriser un tel flamboiement.
La M5 est batit sur une plate forme de Serie 5 comme toutes ses precedentes.On y ajoute le plus gros moteur qu'on peut trouver.Dans le cas present il s'agit du meme V10 que la M6.A noter que c'est la M6 qui a emprunte ce dernier a la M5 et non le contraire.Ce V10 donc, est une brute de 507BHp.Je ne reviendrai pas sur ces details techniques, allez lire ma critique de la M6 pour plus d'information.Une brute oui, mais pas epaisse puisque ce V10 chante jusqu'a 7 750 tr/min.Disons que ce moteur fait plus penser a une formule 1 qu'a un moteur de pick-up Ram.Disons qu'avec 383 lb-ft de couple, la M5 aurait des croutes a manger pour rivaliser avec le V10 de la camionette.Mais l'interet de la M5 n'est certainement pas dans le fait de pouvoir litteralement tirer sa maison avec sa voiture.Non la M5 donne plus dans les performances epoustoufflantes.
J'ai deja dis que ce qui est merveilleux avec la M6, c'est qu'on a un coupe sportif de luxe tres cossu et confortable et une bete de circuit enroule dans la meme voiture.C'est le meme principe avec la M5 sauf que c'est encore plus evident et plus confortable.Pas question de passer de longues heures a l'arrier d'une M6, on risque la flibite due a la position des jambes sous les bancs avant.Pas de soucis de ce cote avec la M5.On a affaire a une vraie berline de luxe avec amplement d'espace a l'arriere comme a l'avant.Si ce n'etait des bancs types sport et des sigles M qui decorent l'interieur on se croirait dans une Serie 5 toute normale.Mais on se fait vite rappeler a l'ordre par le fameux bouton M placer sur le volant.Comme dans la M3 et la M6, si on a pre-memorise ses reglages, suffit de presser ce bouton et on libere tout le potentiel de la voiture.Cote equipement la M5 mets tout le catalogue BMW, les seules options disponibles sont esthetiques ou mecaniques tel des roues plus grosses comme sur le modele essaye.
Performance:
Comme la M6 ce qui impressionne le plus avec la M5 c'est qu'on oublie son poids consequent.D'autant plus que dans le cas de la M5 nous sommes dans une berline.Par instinct ou habitude je m'attends a un roulis important, mais encore la la M5 bluff son poids.La sensation au volant est presque parfaite, on sent le moindre petit remous de la route ou perte d'adherence aux roues avants.Le reste du chassis suit dans la meme veine.On ne conduit pas la M5, on devine plutot chaque petite bosse ou fosse de l'asphalte qui defile sous ses pneus.Par la suite, instinctivement la voiture nous permet de corriger de facon minime la trajectoire pour pouvoir prendre les courbes de la facon la plus efficace possible.Et ces courbes ont les prends a des vitesses ahurissantes.Sur circuit c'est aussi rapide que n'importe laquel des voitures sport a 2 portes ou des supercar style Ferrari ou Lamborghini.Sur routes ouvertes, c'est encore plus jouissif.Apres mes 3 tours du circuit Tremblant je n'avais aucune aprehension quand j'ai essaye la M5 sur la route.Tout etait clair, net et precis ameliorant ma confiance en moi pour aller toujours plus vite.Une chance que les policiers etaient au Dunkin Donut du coin.
Dans ses reglages les plus sportifs la M5 ne laisse aucune chance au sous-virage.L'equilibre de la voiture est parfait.Il faut arrive drolement vite dans une courbe pour que l'avant pousse large.Un petit relachement de la pedale, qui ma foi est toujours aussi directe que sur les autres vehicules M, et l'arriere de la voiture s'en mele.Le controle de trajectoire est deconnectable, mais contrairement a d'autres, il est vraiment deconnectable.Alors meme si on peut ajuster l'attitude de la voiture a la pedale, allez-y parcimonieusement parce que le tete-a-queue n'est pas loin.Surtout avec 500 quelques chevaux sous le pied.Tout de meme, lorsque cela se produit, le tout vous est telegraphe en avance.Vous n'aurez aucune mauvaise surprise a moins que vous fassiez une maneouvre a la con.
En ligne droite, ca pousse fort, tres fort.La M5 en donne un peu a la M6 mais pas tant que ça.Par contre, ses rivales allemandes lui font de l'ombre.L'Audi RS6 est demoniaque dans ce domaine et la CLS63 AMG ne laisse pas sa deuxieme place non plus.Donc si on reunissait ses trois voitures pour un bon vieux "boach" de lumiere verte je ne choisirais pas la M5.Je fais vraiment la fine bouche par contre parce que contre n'importe quoi d'autres de moins chers que ces deux voitures y'a aucun soucis a se faire.
Conclusion:
La division M de BMW opere encore sa magie.Bien qu'elle soit peut-etre un peu moins rapide que ce qui se fait chez Audi et Mercedes, sur circuit ou sur une petite route sinueuse je prends la M5 a toutes les fois.Pour ce qui est de la finition ou de l'equipement, c'est parfait, comme d'habitude chez BMW.Seule petit hic, faudrait avoir autant d'audace avec la planche de bord qu'avec l'exterieur c'est plutot serieux et fade dans la M5.Bref, j'arriverai peut-etre en retard si j'avais rendez-vous avec la RS6, mais au moins j'arriverais fou comme un balais.Aug 15, 2008

Ut fra de fire pottene bak kommer den beste lyden, aldri hørt på maken. Jeg har sett biler til lagt over 7 mill, men denne koster bare fra 1.7 mill :P

So I've been looking for around 6 months or so now for a 2007 and up BMW e60 m5. Has always been a dream car and I'm a big BMW Fanatic, but up in Jacksonville fl there's an 08 with 34k miles for 25k. I'm not sure if it has an Extended warranty, but I know he has all the service records on the car and that it's up to date with its service. I'm just want some input Whether it's a good deal or not.
I just found a 08 BMW m5e60 took a look at it, looks good from inside out test drive it love it, so the car has 88k mils guys what do you think for 25.5k, the car base been take care off up to date, let me know good buy or not.
