There are no significant changes to Jaguar's sleek and stylish grand tourer for 2006.
The Jaguar XK Series replaced the long-running XJS Coupe at the end of the 1996 model year. The XJS was a grand tourer, built from 1975 through 1996.
The first XK8, introduced in the late 1990s, shared a platform with the Austin Martin DB7. The XK was offered as either a coupe or a convertible, and a supercharged XKR was also available. An unaltered 4.2 liter V-8 generated 290 horsepower, and the R's supercharged V-8 had an output of 390 horsepower.
During the ten years of the XK's first generation there were minimal changes, aside from a redesigned grille in 2005. Several special limited additions were also offered. Two examples: the 2001 XKR Silverstone and the 2004 XKR Portfolio. Both these exclusive were offered in very limited numbers in the United States; less than 300.
The XK Series would be redesigned at the end of 2006, and the "8" was dropped from the name. The new model was designed by Ian Callum, of DB7 fame, and the styling was reminiscent of the 1961 Jaguar E-Type. An all-aluminum chassis produced a lighter car, weighing less than 3800 pounds.

Arguably the best looking XK since the legendary XKE with a more cohesive front end design then the folllowing, and last, XK. Well sorted by this the last model year for this generation with the major problem concerning the timing belt having been reengineered in 2003. With 300 hp, more of a grand tourer than a performance car. Good lines foretell a future classic.Aug 19, 2022

A wo=old of difference between the xk8 and the xkr.
The xkr was the best car I have ever owned
Other than a flat tire, and regular maintenance it needed nothing. That is saying a lot for a Jaguar Aug 14, 2020

This car is a beautiful car - no two ways about it... and for a luxury car, it had decent pick up... definitely more for a cruising vehicle than someoen who's looking to do some serious driving... so to me it was a great car for the summer... the issue is that I bought this (as I do most of my 'summer cars') being a year old... I bought it from a Jaguar dealership even though I could have got it cheaper going other routes - the main reason I did this was that Jaguar had recertified it... in the first 2 months I owned it, it was in the shop several times... the last time because the air conditioner condensation was draining into the passenger side footwell! Now, I'll say that it was a used car, so there could be things wrong - hell, there could be things wrong with a brand new car... but the real issue was that for the items I brought the car back for, I kept hearing that they weren't covered under the recert program... on the last one, I was told because thye had to pull out the dash to deal with it, it was going to be about 1k to get fixed and the reason it wouldn't be covered is because there was a rubber piece that was worn and the recert doesn't cover rubber parts since they wear - but this was a one year old car with about 9k miles on it, so how does it wear to that point?? So if you are looking for a great looking car that you will look great in, this could be the car for you - I can't tell you how many people commented on it when I'd drive by (and trust me, it was all about the car and nothing to do with me!)... If you are looking for a car that is a great cruiser on the highway, giving a soft/comfortable ride, again this could be the car for you... but just be ware that it is going to get expensive to repair very quickly!Mar 04, 2014

Do you let dealers on your site that con your customers. It happened to me of a car that I bought from one of your ads. I need someone to talk to. Or are your just another shabby American company that does not car about their public.
It appears as though the battery on my 2006 XKR has died, the key fob will not work, I can get into the car with the key but the window does not come down when opening the door, the ignition key does nothing not even lighting up the dash, I am assuming the battery is totally dead but i cannot get into the boot to change it, i now cannot lock the drivers door even with the key HELP PLEASE
Help! Put the fabtop down, everything sunk into place. Raised the fabtop, operation normal, EXCEPT the passenger rear window is only raising 30-40%. Retried operation, same thing happened. Is the roof operation the only way to raise & lower these rear windows? Is there anything I can do, to at least raise it up, short of bringing it to a mechanic? Your guidance & advice will be greatly appreciated!! - Tom Z
