no battery in it, owner said had engine light on, how long will it take for computer to load engine codes when i replace battery?

Write a reviewStill reeling from the success of the Stow 'N Go seating in 2005, the 2006 Grand Caravan made few changes to its reinvigorated line of minivans, still number one in sales. At 200 inches long, the Grand Caravan could be customized to fit whatever amount of passengers or cargo you were carrying, from the utilitarian Cargo Van to the luxurious feel of the top-of-the-line SXT.
The SE Plus was dropped, leaving the base SE, SXT, and C/V Cargo Van. A 3.3-liter, 180-hp V6 came standard in the C/V and SE, with the SXT being powered by a 3.8-liter, 205-hp V6. ABS was standard across all models, as were curtain side airbags for all rows and a driver's knee airbag. The SXT came standard with the now-famous Stow 'N Go seating which offered seat and cargo configurability.
Aside from the success of Stow 'N Go, the power sliding doors and power liftgate (standard on SXT) are big hits with drivers, along with the comfortable seating, and agile handling. The ride is generally quiet, although with the seats folded down, road noise does increase slightly. Most owner complaints involve a cheap-looking plastic interior and reliability.

Very nice vehicle, family friendly and easy to drive. Lots of nice features and lots of cargo space. Fuel capacity is nice and gets good mileage for it's size. Easy to drive in snow however did struggle a bit in heavy snow Apr 15, 2014

I've owned a number of Caravans and one T&C. The '97 T&C 3.8L was a maintenance nightmare. The Grand Caravan's (3.0, 3.3) performed and maintained much better than T&C. The 2006 has been my favorite with the stow-n-go seating providing full size 4x8 open space funcionality for my business needs. I keep my vehicles in tip top shape with regular fluid changes, fuel system cleaning, and 80,000 mile tune-up. Just had second tune-up at 160,000 still runs like new. Gas mileage has been a staple since I bought at 16-18, 21-22.
I will continue to purchase Grand Caravans for my business needs.Jun 28, 2013

Awesome family car.
Power liftgate and auto doors very nice for loading/unloading
Sliding doors makes entry/exit easy in tight parking situations.
Stow and go seating makes the interior very versatile.
Fuel economy does quite well for a vehicle of this cargo capacity.Dec 12, 2011

Reliable and roomy vehicle for long rides. handles well even trailering but not in the corners (it is a van) withiin 5 years things are starting to go wrong. Door locks not working and cd doesn't work. Reasonable gas mileage for the cargo/towing capacity.Nov 03, 2011

I have always loved the room. I used the van to build-out my basement and deck. It is the only vehicle I know of that can haul 4'x8' drywall without it getting wet. handles smoothly. Gas mileage for moving 7 people is great.Mar 21, 2011

handles. I have the 3.8L. Way too many
mechanical problems for an auto with only
60K miles. Brake wear is fast on
this....bad design. Also, the moldings on
the inside are delicate. The hood is

Nice comfortable ride. Jamie loves the built in DVD player with 7" screen. The video input jacks allows him to play the Playstation on long trips. So it's great entertainment when traveling. I like the dark blue color. I wish it had the 4.0L V6 instead of the 3.3L V6.Sep 17, 2008

It's a minivan. It's solid, you can put a lot of kids and cargo in it, the seats fold down. After 2 years and 25K, we haven't had to repair anything. In real life, driving fast, we get 22 MPG highway and 18 city, which is better than I expected. Sep 01, 2008

I now have 77500 km on our 2005 gc and have yet to have any problems
we are running on ethanol and average about 37mpg on highway......!
Not very pleased with 3.3 loud drive train, but will live with it
for now. We have a 5 year 160000 bumper to bumper warranty so far we have only used to change a signal changer. I would recomend this

Alternator Dodge Grand Caravan
I'm not sure if I'm just not searching for the right thing, but does anyone know if I could use a 2008 Nissan Quest alternator in a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan. We just bought the nissan alternator and then the rest of the car went caput. A friend gave us the caravan, but it needs and alternator. Thank you for any help.

'06 Grand Caravan sputters / hesitation
So my engine light came on. Van was running good. Code popped for #1 cylinder. I changed plugs and wires. Then van ran extremely rough. Next I changed the coils, all 6 injectors. Van no longer pops code for #1 cylinder. But still a bit of a rough idle when in drive. Give it gas and it kinda hesitates; continue to drive and it drives like a champ; let off the gas and can feel the sputtering as velocity decreases. Who has advice...?
