The 2004 Ford Escape continued to have a tough time finding its way in the compact SUV market, despite a roomy interior, generous cargo space, and nimble handling.
The entry-level engine for the '04 Ford Escape was the 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder Zetec with a 130-horsepower output. A 3.0 liter, 24-valve Duratec V-6, putting out 200 horsepower and 200 lb.-ft. of torque, was an option for buyers wanting to give their 2004 Escape a little more oomph under the hood.
ABS front-disc brakes gave the Escape great stopping power, and optional front-side airbags added security.

January 11, 2015I found that I had all the power I needed for quick acceleration without waiting.l In addition it was smooth and quiet. Braking was smooth and control. I had know problem feeling safe and relaxed while driving. The car has a firm, solid ride.
February 17, 2015Great family car! It was simple and easy to maintain but some of the luxury options were lacking which was added in later years. All and all it was a very reliable and fun vehicle. Served me well! I would bay another....and did!

September 13, 201046,000 miles runs strong. towing package imo increases the ability to drive more aggressively. rides on the beach like i was on paved road, came with a 3500 lb. towing package and transmission cooler. cooler a plus for beach driving
January 18, 2011This car is perfect for traveling, anyone who has kids, and looking for excellent gas mileage. There is more thank enough room to lug whatever you please in this car. Drives smoothly and handles just as well. the 4wd makes it perfect for bad weather!!!
September 10, 2014Great everyday driving vehicle, fuel economy is ok but good. Power is decent but its lacking in the higher rpm range. Great in the winter, it has pretty good traction especially with 4wd. Down sides is that it can be a little cramped in the back seat if you're over 6' tall!
January 5, 2012Spunky, smooth and easy to manouver. Has alot of room for a smaller suv. Excellent on the highway and good in the city. The only complaint I have is that it hass alot of raod noise. Fun to drive great handling, acceleration and braking are good as well. The appearance is nice I do like the styling of the 2008 escapes better but this is good for its age. Gas mileage is as good as can be expected I drive alot and probably spend on average $120.00-$160.00 per month. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone.

January 26, 2008Spacious for cargo. Chairs can be fold to allow more cargo area in the back. The car is good for camping and outdoor activities.It is nice mid size SUV with a strong rack to carry additional stuff such camping equipment.
July 19, 2012Quick enough 20mpg on average, but I need to do a tune up Decent off-road until you get into the serious stuff Plenty roomy- who needs an Explorer? Has 4wd lock, which is no hi-lo-range great for inclement weather can be a pain to work on stock stereo sucks (get a subwoofer) don't let your alternator get underwater
