The 2003 Toyota Tundra follows a tradition of excellence set forth by the 2000 Tundra, and carried through since its inception. Slight exterior changes included a new, bolder-looking grille, though the Toyota continues to look a bit staid compared to its bigger American competitors.
Ironically, some reviewers complained about the fake chrome grille and related styling. Others preferred the more subdued look, considering it more typical of a Toyota vehicle. Most reviewers agreed that the gas mileage was very poor, especially for having a smaller engine and build than the other full-size trucks.

I love the 2003 Tundra stepside, the 8cyl 6speed overdrive is a great engine, and Im loving the interior for the family. Plus, plenty of room in the bed for equipment

Im not a big fan of the 03 trim package with matching color bumper,door handles,and especially same color fender flares. I prefer the 2000-02 SR5 extended cab. Trim packages should have contrast, not be all white, Totally different evap canister on 03-06 vs. 00-02. Such high quality and engineering sometimes goes to waste because toyota used cheap steel in the frame. I bought my 02 tundra SR5 extended cab in 2009 for 11,999. 12 years later they are still holding there value and have barely depreciated. Watch what you buy. A lot of tundras look sweet with low miles or even 200k + miles and they still think they can get 12,000- 15k for a 21 years old tundra with 200,000 miles looking good ,but check the frame really good because there is a lot of junk frames being sold. They need to do the 150%buy back they did on tacomaFeb 12, 2021

We have loved our tundra since we bought it and never regretted the purchase. maintenance has been costly, but she has continued to run like a dream. She has been to the east coast and back twice and showed no wear from it. If you take care of your toyota it will take care if you. Sep 22, 2014

I love the stepside body. It's very comfortable and great to spend time in. The expensive bed lid is very impractical and limits what you can load and it leaks, but it does look cool. I liked it so well I bought another one.Sep 25, 2013

This truck has ridiculous power when needed and gas consumption is the best I've ever had in a truck. if this had a biger cab for my kids i won't be selling it but since we all grow in life its my time to part ways...May 01, 2013

I like the look of the truck it rides smooth has alot of power for a v6 and i am goin to make alot of upgrades to it i am tinting all my windows and the top 6 inches of windshield to 2.5 and im gettin a toolbox bug deflectors spray on bed liner flow masters speakers and a touch screen cd playerJun 29, 2012

This truck has perfect get up and go. It gives everythig a V8 should and more. The build is stable with a comfortable ride and low vibrations. We have had to make no repairs. The apperance is good with quality paint and body. Surprisingly the gas mileage is good getting an average of 16 in town and 22 on the highway. I love driving this truck not only for the looks but for the power under the hood. It's perfect for fun and work.Nov 13, 2010

i love that its a toyota truck. it has a pretty powerful engine, even though
it is a smaller v8. it looks good and handles nice. i just wish it had a solid

its the bomb. i had it supercharged at the dealer. headers, flow masters, bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump, reprogramed and still gets 11mpg city. 390 hp on the dyno. I LOVE IT! and its never ever left me stranded. her name is tunniMar 27, 2010

Performance: Top notch 4.7 Liter V8
Build Quality: The cab could be a bit bigger, but its cool :), the suspension could
you some lube and o few tightened bolts here and there, could use some
aftermarket exhaust and suspension.
Apperance: It's black atm, but going to re-paint it Black again
Cost of Ownership: Not real sure, gas is still high though

Great truck. Absolutely loved it. Roomy && had a lot of get up && go in it. 4 wheel drive worked great. Like that it was push button but sometimes it was hard to get out of 4wheel. Smooth ride through.Jun 24, 2008

I wish mine was a 4WD but otherwise it's very nice. I've got leather interior with a JBL Synthesis Factory upgrade (JBL Factory speakers w/ a factory amp) but I'm going to rip that out and install all JBL Power series sometime soon. Roomy interior, unless you're in the back seats... but still manageable, unlike ford or dodge. Black with chrome highlights, chrome nerf bars, Rhino-lining, Altezza Taillights, V8, and it's a Toyota. As long as you keep up the regular maintenance it'll last over 400,000 miles (I have a friend who has one like that)Feb 19, 2008

Why does everything stay powered on with the ignition off now?
i need some help. I have an 03 toyota tundra with a 4.7 v8 the problem im having started the othwr day when i had a coolant leak spraying all over under the hood. All of the accessories stay on radio ac window controls etc... when the truck is off and key is out of the ignition the gauge cluster also stays poweres all the time as if the key was in the one position. I have already replaced the ignition switch thinking that was my problem but still have the issue. What should i be looking for a short, bad ground?
