As its name implies, the all-new 2004 Nissan Titan is big and powerful. In fact, in 2004, it was the biggest Japanese-produced pickup yet produced. Clearly trying to compete with the industry-leading domestic pickups, the 2004 Titan has better torque and more interior leg and headroom than its American rivals. It comes as either a 2WD or 4WD in Crew or King Cabs. The King is the extended cab version. Both are four-doors. No two-doors are offered. Power comes from a 305-hp, 5.3-liter DOHC V8 and 5-speed automatic, putting out 379 lb-ft of torque at 6000 rpm. Towing capacity is a meaty 9,500 pounds. Two cargo beds are offered -- a 5'7" and a 6'6".
Three trim levels take you up the convenience chain. The XE is the base model, with air conditioning and a CD. SE adds larger 18-inch wheels and front row captain's chairs in place of the 40/20/40 front bench. The LE adds power front seats and leather upholstery, plus an optional sunroof. ABS brakes, dual front airbags, a tire monitor are standard, with side curtain bags and stability control optional. The 2004 Titan also offers some segment innovations in the cargo bed. The Utili-track rail system on the floor and sides allows you to attach objects onto it. And a factory-installed sprayed-in bedliner to help protect the bed is surprisingly the first of its kind. Other options include an off-roading package.
There are lots of storage compartments, including an armrest console with the front bench seat. A lockable box in the bed is also a nice touch. Interior room is spacious, with the King Cab featuring 180-degree rear doors for easier passenger or loading access. Drivers of the 2004 Nissan Titan praise its power, pickup, and towing capabilities, saying it rivals the F-150. While providing the heft of a truck, it handles a lot like a car, though the turning radius is noticeably large. Other highlights include the styling, the Utili-track, and the roominess. Criticisms focus on the low gas mileage, cheap-looking interior materials, and long-term seat comfort. There is an issue with early brake wear, and Nissan customer service does not impress owners.

Very nice! The Titan SE has a great balance of power and speed. This truck has maybe a little too much of everything. I thought I bought a Truck and ended up with a Cadillac, all the bells and whistles. Very easy to work on and the parts are reasonable. Its easier to say whats not in mine; No, heated seats, electric seats, back windows dont roll down, no Butler or Maid.
So basically if the accessory isnt in this truck you dont need it. I paid $6,500+ tax for a Titan with under 200,000 miles on it. And my dog likes it so that sealed the deal. Even the two wheel drive sits up a little high for grandma to get in so get a set of running boards. May 23, 2022

I loved my Nissan Titan...but its size made it a little harder for me to park and make my turns but it was super comfortable for long freeway rides to Vegas or moving heavy furniture. Great power! But for me Id perfer the smaller Frontier.Feb 25, 2021

We drove 2 1/2 hours to get to see the truck and they had spray painted over were there was rust and to top it all off it would not go in reverse but we love it because they said it was a sensor ok welll it wouldn’t even shift in the next gear so the whole thing was bad Dec 10, 2020

I bought it! Is very big, yet easy to drive and see everything. I usually drive a smaller car and like the higher up view of the truck. Like the leather seats and the roomy crew cab which will be great for my family, like the lift and handgrip to get in for me and my mom.Dec 03, 2020

This was my first full size truck. It rides rough but it is a truck. Handles well for a full size truck. I used to own a small lumber yard and abused the truck for a few years. Power Train is still strong. 302K miles and just had regular maintenance. My third Nissan. Hard body and Frontier were it's predecessors. Both of them were great also. Easy to drive and operate. Very reliable and comfortable. For a big truck, it's one of the best overall. Lots of power, towing capacity and comfortable on long trips. Reliable and rugged - Great truck, up to 130,000 miles. Trust to take all over the country as it has already been. Its pulled dually s out of ditches! 4x4 is great on the truck, gas mileage is horrible ofcourse lucky if you get 16 mpg. Lucky! Otherwise I love the style, always have hope they don't change it! Who needs a Hemi? The 5.6L V8 in the Titan is the
superstar of the domestic pickup market. Make no
mistake, this is an all-American V8 in an all-American truck.
The Titan is big, but lighter than most of its rivals despite
having a fully boxed frame and some of the highest load
capacities. The 5.6L sounds better than anything on the
road, pulls like a freight train all the way to red line and
makes every on ramp an opportunity to embarrass
something "sporty".
Unfortunately it's also the thirstiest half-ton truck on the
market. I mean, 13MPG is a good average in this thing.
Although the truck is very commodious, comfortable and
rides well; long trips hurt your back side from the burning
sensation in your wallet.
With the off-road package I'm convinced that if the truck
will fit, it'll get there. The traction available is incredible
and the truck seems to have a lower center of gravity

I like it alot has plenty of power to tow what I need it to tow. I only tow a 16 foot boat and a Polaris Ranger UTV I think if anyone is to go get a new truck checkk out the Nissan Titan first you will be overly amazed.Jul 31, 2009

The only thing I don't like is the upholstery! The ride
is great. Very solid. It is powerful off the line. We
have absolutely no problem pulling out trailer with it.

I love my truck, the acceleration is good but not the best. The quality has not been an issue in any way so far and it has just past the 51k mark. It is fun to drive even as a truck. Gas has become more of an issue as most of my driving is now in the city limits but I still really do love to drive it so makes it worth it.Aug 01, 2008

Nice truck. Neat interior. Has suicide doors that don't open unless the front doors are
open first. Lots of folding seat options. First set of brakes wore out quickly. The gas pedal
is very touchy. This truck does NOT get good mileage. I doubt it gets the supposed 14 city
and 18 highway. I haven't owned long enough to know for sure. Also, I don't think the
second set of doors have enough support to last. Front window makes me feel like I have
tunnel vision. Conversely, the side view is bigger and better. My seats were not Power,
which I prefer. Nice CD kit. Drives well. Haven't towed with it yet. Funny little quirk with
the heat/cooling selector--turn it to certain spots make it appear to be the adjacent
setting. Hard to explain. I bought it from original owner. In three years, it depreciated

2004 Nissan titan won't start
I have a 2004 Nissan Titan that ran perfect sat for 2 days and now won't start, I replaced the starter, the starter relay, battery and ignition switch it's been at a mechanic for a month they said it was the computer that was also replaced, it still won't start!!! Supposedly it will start from the engine but not from the ignition and the mechanics can't figure out why it won't start.
