The 2003 Toyota Tundra follows a tradition of excellence set forth by the 2000 Tundra, and carried through since its inception. Slight exterior changes included a new, bolder-looking grille, though the Toyota continues to look a bit staid compared to its bigger American competitors. Ironically, some reviewers complained about the fake chrome grille and related styling. Others preferred the more subdued look, considering it more typical of a Toyota vehicle. Most reviewers agreed that the gas mileage was very poor, especially for having a smaller engine and build than the other full-size trucks.
