How much is a 105,000 mile service
The dealer quoted me $1,620 to do the 105,000 mile service on my Honda Odyssey 2000. This seems crazy high. Is it within the range? Thanks!

The 2000 Honda Odyssey is essentially the same re-designed minivan from one year earlier. With a V-6, 3.5-liter engine with 210-hp, the Odyssey has more power. All 2000 Odyssey models come with an (EBD) Electronic Braking Distribution system that manages to calculate weight distribution inside the vehicle, and will adjust braking action during hard stops. This is definitely a great safety feature.
Drivers really enjoy the looks of the Odyssey minivan with the sleek, attractive design. The fact that the 4-wheel independent suspension makes driving smoother, also appeals to many user reviewers. Most drivers expect that by staying with the regular maintenance schedule, this minivan will run dependably for a very long time. It has excellent fuel efficiency, low emissions, and with the back seat folded down, tremendous cargo space.
Owner reviews are pretty high for the 2000 Honda Odyssey, as are excellent crash test results. This minivan comfortably seats seven people, each with a headrest and a functioning cup-holder.

Wonderful car. Seats a family easily. Low maintenance cost. Honda.Reliable.great for transporting Large Items. Takes a decent amount of fuel. However, for a van it has a pretty decent fuel consumption. About 19-20 miles per gallon in mix driving conditions. Dec 09, 2013

I have good time in driving it. I felt very comfortable, it is great for family, safe for children. Also you will have better view when driving. Kds can rest at the back well. We can put a lot of luggage at the back while traveling.Sep 04, 2013

We drove our 2000 Ody for 8 years, put almost 200k on her before deciding it was just time to replace it....with another Odyssey! Worth dealing with the transmission issue. Make sure you find a transmission shop that will TOTALLY rebuild your transmission, not just tweak it. Drain and fill tranny fluid at regular intervals, and your Ody will love you back.Jun 12, 2013

It's a Honda Odyssey, what more can I say. Rock Solid. People still think it's a new vehicle. The back seat folds into the floor and the middle row is removable giving you plenty of cargo room. Without the seats, you have 4x8 feet of space, plenty of room for sheetrock or plywood.Dec 30, 2012

Great family fun vehicle, great on vacations and camping in the national parks. tranny went at 80,000 miles and 200,000 miles honda covered it the first time, glad because warrantee expired at 60k. It served us well. Much better than the chrystler version.Dec 31, 2011

Great vehicle. Has two sticky automatic sliding doors, but easily fixed on resets. Performance is great. Good for highway and city driving. Fuel consumption is fine (1600 KM on $175 fuel @ $1.15/L). Very little maintenance for a great vehicle. A must have for family usage.Aug 08, 2010

I like the Honda Odyssey for it's a great car for both the road and for around town, (22.5 mph hwy consistently). And it converts quickly for hauling stuff, and it'll haul a lot. Plus I still think this model is a smoother looking model than the new models. I have the EX Sport model, and acceleration is really great~! Heat & Cooling is excellent with controls for the rear, and music sound good anywhere in the vehicle. Nov 10, 2009

This is the Super Sport edition... looks like a family van, but accelerates like a Sports Car, and great on both Interstate and in locate driving.
Transforms from a people mover into a Utility Vehicle for carrying my lawnmover or for camping or moving.

If BMW made a mini van all they would have to do is copy this one. It is one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. It has protected my family in two separate 40+ MPH accidents. On both occasions, the cars that hit us were totaled. And we were able to drive home with relatively minor damage. Great MPG and power to boot, plus you can’t beat Honda reliability.Jun 26, 2008

I have had the car for 2 years. Runs great. Have only had problems with both sliding doors. I have had an ongoing problem with power doors. WHen I switch to manual, the doors are a pain to open/close.Mar 22, 2008

A van with a large amount of space, a hide-away third row of seating and two sliding doors (new for 2000). The van, because of it's size and weight, doesn't handle very well in rain, snow and ice, and sharp turns are difficult no matter what the weather. The brakes work well, though I am not a fan of ABS. Some of the interior components have proven to not be made very well including an air conditioner knob, the cup holder placements, and the rear interior light. There have also been several recalls for this model. The only other complaint is that the sliding doors get stuck in cold weather and after periods of non-use. Only maintenence needed was routine. I’ve got a 2001 Honda Odyssey transmission that I am putting into my 2000 Odyssey and have come into confusion. Everyone I consulted with said that they were exactly the same in those years, and the transmission fit into place and bolted right, but there appear to be more sensors/plugs on this newer transmission than I have wiring for. Anyone ever had this happen?

Intermittent Problem starting
I have a 2000 Honda Odyssey with an intermittent problem. Three or four times a year I am not able to start our Odyssey for no apparent reason. If I move the van (roll) it back and forth a few feet and then try to restart it, it always starts up again. 2000 Honda Odyssey major transmission problems.
I just bought a used 2000 Honda Ody. 142000 miles. Has wheel alignment issues but that’s not the main issue. It has issues shifting at low speeds. This morning I was going to work and it wouldn’t shift out of first gear so I took the solenoid plate off the transmission and cleaned the rods that have the screens at the bottom, the center rod was very dirty but the other two on the outside were clean. It had another longer rod with no screen. I put it all back together and drained the fluid and filled it back up with three quarts that I got at the Honda dealership. It shifts somewhat better but not well enough for it to be functional. I need a miracle. I could replace the solenoids but what I really think I need to do is replace the transmission all together. Please someone give me some options.
