Okay I changed out the fuel pump fuel filter, injectors and the bar now the fuel get to the fuel bar but the injectors going to spit what could be the problem

easy to install new audio system, interior isn't too bad, mitsubishi engine gets great
gas mileage but lost power over time, it's fairly easy to maintain, it's not exactly a

Overall, I liked my neon. Was comfortable to drive and good on gas. However, I got very tired of hearing the phrase"consistent with Neons". From the brakes being notoriously bad, to the head gasket, to putting my foot on the brake and the blinkers coming on. It was great in the snow though.Oct 13, 2009

The performance was great i never need to replace any of the little things. I loved the appearance, it was red with a black bumper, i couldn't imagine it any other way. The gas mileage was great 30+. It had a habit of not liking to start in the winter, which isn't good for living in MN. The mechanics couldn't figure out what was wrong with it even. Given its fault i do miss driving it.Aug 03, 2009

Haha it looked like a christmas tree after I nailed a guard rail (Teal and Maroon). Again I had a ton of fun in this car, never new how fast I was going, how much gas I had, what the temp was b/c the dash didn't work, only required minor repairs which is respectable considering the beating I put on it. 100+mph on 95 following Justin on the bike, taking corners nearly on two wheels at UML, giving significant use to the rev limiter etcJun 16, 2009

they are quick, with decent handling. for as cheap as you can get them, little money to put into them, you can make them pretty quick. this car is definitally fun to drive and to race. beware of the neon. lolJun 01, 2009

it wont blow up it can seat 7 not so comfortbly and it is good in the snow good emergency brake location good on gas kinda loud but its allright good top speed i guess its also purple with allot of dings dents stickers and other stooopid stuffMay 20, 2009

Excellent acceleration considering size, braking just above average, precise handeling even with not so good tires on front. traded a Ford Crown Vic even for this car and havent regretted the move yet. Taking into consideration the yrar and 150+ K miles on car the only thing I've have to do on it is change the torque converter cause it locks up and won't release. Body and interier are in almost perfect shape, 20+ mpg city/highwy, an fun to drive.
Only reccomend if you like small cars and can do own work.Feb 21, 2009

Over all this car was fun to drive and got me from place to place with no engine malfunctions.
The 2.0 SOHC engine created good power. And the car, to my surprise was extreamely agile and quick. I acctually blew a few V6's away, and all I had on the engine was a short ram air intake. The appearance of my Neon was awesome because I had 17 inch 5-Zigen wheels, and altezza rear taillights. The only problems that I had were the radio quit working, and gas gauge and speedo quit ,but these are both common on Neons.Jan 17, 2009

Its older, and hsas it share of 160k miles plus problems. Regardless the car got plenty of spunk left in it! That lil 2.8 liter 4 cylinder SOHC engine just wont quit. Mile isnt too bad, gets about 30 to the gallon going around the county on teh back roads and around 35-40 miles to on the highway. Only take 30 bucks from a quarter of a tank to fill it.Sep 29, 2008

This was the ACR (American Club Racer) model, which included a special engine chip, close-ratio 5-speed manual, alloy wheels, and a track-oriented suspension. I still miss this car.Apr 08, 2008

why is my 96 neon getting bad gas mileage (120-150 miles on full tank) and driving at higher than normal rpm?
The catalytic converter was completely plugged, so i removed it and ran a straight pipe. I put new plugs and wires. Installed new fuel pump and filter. Ran sea foam through it with premium gas. Replaced oil pressure sending unit (it was leaking). New oil and filter. Sprayed some carb cleaner through the throttle body while it was running and had someone give it a little gas so it wouldn't stall out. I believe the car to have 70k or less miles. The speedometer/odometer works off and on and is only at 57k. But the car is pretty clean under the hood for a 96. I have to almost stomp the gas to get it moving sometimes. It accelerates okay through 1st and 2nd but from 2nd to 3rd the rpms drop and i have to press the gas pedal more to speed up. When i do that it jumps to 3500-4k rpms until it hits the next gear. It drives at about 2000-2500 rpms when driving down the road at 35-45. On the highway it drives from 3k-3500 to maintain speed. I know the rpms are higher than normal and the car seems to be working too hard. When the rpms jump up high while accelerating, i can see a cloud of smoke in my rear view mirror (granted the converter is removed). I think its gotta be the map sensor, throttle body, or injectors. Or possibly the O2 sensors. I just don't know how to pinpoint the problem. Id replace everything, but ive already put a lot of money into it, and new injectors are expensive. Im going to hook it up to a code scanner in the morning to check trouble codes. But prior to all the repairs i did, it was getting a misfire code and a code saying fuel system too lean bank 2.

I was wonderding if the a/c compressor belt drives any other component in the engine, and if the compressor locks up would i be able to cut the belt and drive on?
1996 plymouth neon 2.0 4cyl. compressor making a grinding noise and it is too expensive to fix.

short in the ignition system?
1996 Neon-runs great ...new everything (including the coil)...but it will suddenly quit running (like turning a switch off..no warning)..than it might take several attempts to get it running again...I think it must be some kind of electrical short in a wire of the ignition system..any thoughts out there about this ....or is there a relay or component that may be the problem????.....thanks
