This car has ample space for four people and is easy to maintain. We pay almost nothing for insurance and there are many things I can fit into the Neon, where I simply can not into my other vehicles. Overall I'm very pleased with the Neon! Apr 12, 2014

headlights get yellow
the factory 5 disc cd is broke
the two front door speakers are blown
all in all, a great car, the last year Plymouth made the neon.

its a neon. it has 4 cylinders. it is not a srt-4. it has subs. they are decent. it is silver. it has a custom red dome light. i drive my neon. i drive it every where. its still silver.Dec 31, 2009

The 01 Plymouth Neon does not have very good
acceleration when going uphills , the braking is
okay but the breaks tend to wear out easily it is
suggest to upgrade to a high performance break
package. The handling is not to bad does pretty
well. I owned this car for 3 years and i didnt have to
many repairs to do the basics breaks, spark plugs
and wires etc. I maintained great maintenance on it
and received around 28 mpg. However like any
other neon this car finally died at 142,000 miles. It
commuted me from the mid west - to the east

Performance: the car runs great, just after a while it starts to nickel and dime you to death. And there is a defect in the 2001 models: the back tire has a little metal piece in it that fell off and the mechanic said it was the reverse break catch or something (?)
Build quality: It's built good, but the trunk leaks water into the back seat floorboard when it rains if you don't fasten the spare tire just right.
Appearance: It's a beautiful car. I just don't care for silver that much. It looks beautiful in metallic blue.
Cost of ownership: it gets great gas mileage as long as you keep it tuned up. We get about 28 mpg. And as long as you get an oil change every 4000 miles or so it stays good.
Fun Factor: it's comfortable to sit in and drive long distances, but it takes a while to go from 0 to 60 (not what i look for in a car, but some people want a fast car)
I would recommend this to someone who wants a reliable car to take them places on the highway.

the interior is a little used and a few bumps and bruises on the outside but it runs good and gets good gas mileage it is about 30 miles a gallon and it has good acceleration and fairly good handling and braking the brakes squeak but tht is about it Aug 03, 2008

It is a 4-cylinder-2.0 liter engine. It is cute, great on gas, and just awesome to drive! I would never be afraid to drive it anywhere. It is very reliable and a great car.May 08, 2008

It's been a very reliable car. I've had to replace basic stuff like the battery, and it's due for some new brakes; but no major repairs. I love this car and even though it's not my dream car I still enjoy it. The performance is pretty good, it's only got 4 clnd. but it has some kick(albeit small). Where it really shines though is around corners, the suspention is great.May 03, 2008

This was my high school car and it is now back in my possession again. With a baby on the way, we needed a safer vehicle than my truck. It is a dark green with tinted windows. The A/C works great, the stereo works again and the car is still running strong. With years of abuse, (if only y'all understood) the car is now being taken care of.Apr 14, 2008

Whats wrong.
I have a 2001 plymouth neon with aomw problems not sure what is going on. There is bad shaking in the engine mainly while in drive stopped at a light and worse in reverse. Have changed motor mounts and apark plugs and one of the belts. Still need to change the alternator belt wich i believe is the squick im hearing. Let car ait for a week and noticed when i started it alot of smoke came from tue exhaust. Checked oil and was low so put more the whole bottom is also covered in oil. And is pretty black after 3 days. There is a sound from the engine i couldnt describe. And today while driving it sputtered up a hill and did not want to accelerate. Yesterday while driving speed said i was 90 but wasnt moving. And today on the highway it said 70 but did not feel or seem it since cars was passing and honking. Sorry not good at explaining the issues but im not completely sure what problems im looking at. Also not sure if worth fixing. Please help

Plymouth neon wont start
I have a 2001 plymouth neon that will turn over but wont start. The first time you start it , it will make a popping noise. Ive replaced the coil pack, cam sensor and crank sensor. Please help. Im at a loss as to what to do next.

Plymouth neon won't crank and start .
I have a question, so my dumbass decided to power wash my engine. It's a 2001 Plymouth neon 2.0 and after I did it, it was running good until I turned it off and turned it back on . When it was on and I would step on the gas it would hesitate and shake a lot . The exhaust would make a weird and loud noisy, it kinda sounded like a motorcycle . After a while it stop making the noise and the car would run good for like a mile or 2 and it would start shaking again and turn off. It wouldn't start sometimes . So I left it like that and the next day it there was no start at all . When I looked at the engine there were some wires that were bad and could of got wet . When I put the key in the ignition the air control valve gets really hot and the car isn't even on I don't know if that's normal ? The only thing I've moved and replaced were the relays but it still didn't work . I have no clue what's wrong with it and I don't want to spend money on things that matter . If you could advise me on what might be the issue it would be a good help . I need my car for school and I can't afford a mechanic to fix it
