The 1993 Ford Mustang would be the last of the third generation of Mustangs, which had been started by the 1979 model. At the beginning of the generation, the Ford Mustang had sat comfortably ahead of the Chevrolet Camaro and Pontiac Firebird in terms of sales and power, but by the end, the Camaro had become a better product with a more powerful engine line.
For the last iteration of this generation, Ford released a new Cobra with an engine tuned to compete with the IROC. The 302-ci V8 had more efficient intake and flow and produced 235 horsepower at 5000 rpm. It received accolades for being the quickest to start as well as quickest to stop Mustang ever produced.

The best thing about driving this convertible is the freedom I feel when I drive it. This is such a fun car to drive, especially when taking scenic adventures. I have kept the car in the garage when I didn't drive it. I have pampered this Mustang.Jul 18, 2012

I loved it, it was my dads, and I had to sell it. I added a cold air intake, high flow duel exhaust and a Kenwood head unit with a Gothic amp and a 12 Duel sub. Great car I'd buy another in a heartbeat.Oct 13, 2010

The handling on this car is a little stiff, but it handles corners decently. The apperance is great i havent had to do alot of repairs, but then again, its in good condition....no winters....the gas mileage isnt what it should be, but how could you drive a 5 speed 5.0 nicely???Dec 06, 2009

Performance is good probably between 280-300 horsepower right now, that number will continue to increase. Exterior appearance is amazing I have a custom paint job, the color is mystic teal it changes from green to blue depending on how you look at it. I also have weld racing rims with drag radial tires, skinnier in the front wider in the back. Gas mileage is killer but thats to be expected in a car like this. Definitely a fun car to drive.Oct 22, 2009

I like my sound system. It is so slow though has good handling but sucks. And considering it is a 4 banger and gets less than 20 mpg its kinda irritating. But it's convertible so that makes it alright. Not bad for a first car but I can't wait to upgrade :)Mar 12, 2009

OK... If you know me you know my "Little Car". It runs amazingly for being 16 years old... Acceleration is a little slow, brakes perfectly, and handles like a dream. An amazingly sturdy build, had the car for a little over a year and have only replaces the starter and a radiator. My car was abused as a youngster haha it has a fist mark and a dent from somebody taking their anger out on it, Red with a Grey interior. I get about 27 MPG and have only spent about $300 in maintenance with oil changes and tires. I LOVE driving my car its a ton of fun and would recommend it to ANYBODY who wants a neat little sports car. Dec 19, 2008

Bought my GT on Ebay from a guy in Pennsylvania that needed to sell it to pay for school. His loss became my gain.
The car puts a smile on my face everytime I hear the V-8 come to life. I love the attention it attracts from people who drove them or liked them in the early 90's.
The car is in excellent condition inside and out and I've lost track of the number of guys that have offered to buy it from me.
Cost of ownership is extremely low and I've only had to make minor repairs to the things that you would expect to wear out on a 15 year old car. However, I've probably spent more on modifications than repairs (headers, underdrve pulleys, cold air intake, off road exhaust, 3.73 gears etc.)
The car is a joy to drive even though I only drive it about once a week. I'd recommend a clean Fox body Mustang GT to anyone that loves the rumble of a V-8 and the styling of late 80's and early 90's American muscle cars.Nov 16, 2008

Love this car. It's a little old and out of shape but if I could afford to put some good money into her, she'd be the best. Runs great (now lol), good handling, decent pick up. The interior needs to be fixed up and there are some leaks in the driver door. But besides all that, it's an awesome car. Anyone wanna help me fix her up? ;)Aug 15, 2008

The '93 four banger Mustangs may lack the power of a 5.0L, but it is still a Mustang. First car I started driving was the "Fox 4" platform Mustang and I love the way the car performs overall. On the fuel injected models (2.3L engine) the car will top out at about 170Km/H which isnt bad considering the weight of the car (being mostly steel and other metals). THe way the car handles is beautifully making quick work of corners without that feeling your about to losse control or flip. The interior of this sporty vehicle is typical of it's class, good if your up front, not so good when in the back, but still spacious enough for a good sound system. What sold me on this Mustang platform was aftermarket parts available, a multude of engines (from 2.3 I4's to 305 CI V8's), the simple maitenece and overhauls, and just the general semi agressive look that came from 80's style vehicles. But no vehicle comes without typical fault areas. They are not the greatest on gas and many of the early to mid 80's fox body Mustangs had fuel leak problems, or excessive fuel consumption. The DIS (Distrubtorless Ignition System) can make it difficult to diagnose problems with the car starting and the fuel pump relay is notorious for crapping out around 200,000 Km's but if you know what your doing, you can bypass the relay at the Inertia switch. Overall a solid car that can take a lot of abuse and still keep going.Apr 25, 2008

owned this cars about 4 years ago. It had a 2.3 liter 4 cyl, with a 5 speed, and I installed a 150hp turbo kit with intercooler. It made about 250-300 horses at the rear wheels. Sold it cuz I didn't like replaceing clutch cables every other month from hot rodding.Mar 30, 2008

While the 93 Mustang has been around for a while. It is still a great car to own.
While on paper the 93 are down on HP and torque, this is very deceiving, as the change is on the way Ford achieved it's #'s not by changes to the 93's engine. In actuality the 92-93's engine is the same(& very similar to the 91)with 225hp and 300 lbs/tq. This is proven in the similar performance figures of all 89-93 Mustangs.
Ford credits the missing HP most on the testing change and minor variations year-year. Personally I think it was a marqueting ploy to explain the 235 hp of the 93 Cobra and the 215 hp of the new 94 Mustang's 5.0 -the same of the previous year 195 hp Thunderbird.
During the many times drag racing events a stock 94 Mustang never beat my stock 93 Mustang.
I have my 93 Mustang since 96. I drove it for 2 winters in the snow. It is not the best winter car-with snow my top-speed was 40mph, but I never got stuck. As soon as I could afford I retired the car to pleasure use. This is what they were made for. :)
As a summer car it was just perfect. It has a/c, flip-up & removable sun roof, the upgraded stereo w/6 speakers, the auto w/ overdrive.
Over the years I have added a 3.73:1 rear end gears that greatly enhance accelaration, mac cold air intake, headers and flowtech-warlock exhaust. Those minor mods allowed the car just enough breading, performance and great sound to make driving it that much of an muscle car experience.
I left the outside alone as I love the way the 5.0 LX looks. It's what a true muscle car should look like not just about fancy add-ons. It has big wheels/tires, shiny stainless steel dual exhaust tips and a sporty look.
After all these years it's still a great car. I never had any problems with it!
I find it rides a bit hard but the suspension works relatively well for a 90's era car. The performance is equally adequate. Some how it does fell faster than what the hp and 1/4 mile times (14.5 @ 92 mph)suggest.Jan 24, 2008

It is a very stealthy riding car. Should have gotten a leather top the canvas one is very noisy. Not good inthe snow, to lite. Great on the highway or trip inbetween gas stations.Aug 01, 2007
I have installed new 3 row radiator with twin cooling fans and thermostat with housing. The car runs good but when A/C is turned on it almost immediately overheats and can not recover even after A/C is shut off. Have to pull over and spray the radiator with cold water. The heater works, there is no air blockage, cooling fans come on, no water leaks, no steam from exhaust and no water in oil. Help Please
When i turn the key on to start it would make a humming for about 3 seconds and would start right up but now when turn the key on it doesn't make that sound. I replaced the fuel pump but still don't make the sound and won't start. Any ideas
