well we had to rebuild the engine n replace the flywheel among other things n havent really been able to drive it yet bc my hubby can not get no1 over here to help him put it all back together again Mar 07, 2020

Lightweight car with approximately 170 HP, in my opinion it has plenty of
power. Engine is 2.0 L in line 4 cylinder with twin overhead cam. Close gear
ratio, will easily top itself out in 5th gear around 130 is my guess. 4 wheel disk
brakes, no drums, and wide tires give it a little more grip for braking. No anti-
lock, so decently easy to lock up the tires. Very tight car, handles very nimbly
and very fast around corners. front wheel drive makes it very easy to control in
a corner. If the back end starts to rotate, you just punch it and it pulls it back
into line.
Got the car used with a hammered engine. the previous owner drove it hard
and was neglectful of oil changes and other maintenance. Put a used engine
in, and expect the engine to outlast the car.
Exterior is a tiny bit on the boxy side, being an older car. White paint, in need
of new coat. two door with a small spoiler. definitely sporty looking. Gun metal
5 spoke rims.
Interior has dark grey cloth seats, dash is gray plastic. Front seats are
amazing for autocrossing, because they hold your sides very securely.
Because I increased the timing to 18 degrees before TDC, I need to put 93
octane gas in the car, so that makes it a little more expensive. Still gets avg
28-30 mpg so not bad for a little 2.0 L sports car.
I don't have an accurate perception of maintenance costs, because I buy parts
and install them myself. Cost of parts are cheap though.
For me this car is a blast to drive. I know most men love shear power and
speed when they get behind the wheel, but I tend to lean more towards how
fast a car goes around a corner. It still has a decent amount of power (enough
for the torque to yank the steering wheel out of your hand) so it's not slow. But

Mine was a rusted out piece of junk that has had too many different engines in it to count. It would rarely start, the headlights didn't work, the master cylinder leaked, the brakes were squishy, it over heated regularly, and smelled like mold.

motor is in good shape body damage is minimum paint is very faded -___- its 100%
stock :( jus stupid basic races for now & a everyday car soo far definate motor

Cheap to run does up to 750km on one tank about 60 bucks to fill up , does wicked burnouts and i can get 190km top speed, not bad for a 1600cc motor and peformance is good i can give bigger cars a hard time if i want to Oct 28, 2010

Realiable as hell. i got it as a beater and thats what it was, beat to hell. but always started stoped, got me where i had to go with good gass mileage. to bad it was in such poor shape i wouldn't have mined keeping it. but the car i replaced it with was niceFeb 10, 2010

A nice sporty little car. Light, quick, nimble, and crash safe. The 2.0L engine in this little car kicks ass with 140 HP and less that 2500lbs, this thing can get up and go! Interior was kind of ugly with a tall shifter and the 14 inch wheels were undersized for the performance of the car.
Really fun with a 7k RPM redline! It likes the revs too!Nov 10, 2009

loved it, bought it for under $500 and it lasted me over 2 years before giving me any problems. Parts to hook these cars up are everywher and cost near nothing. I couldn't believe the 34mpg I was getting especially with over 500pounds of stereo in the trunk.Oct 14, 2009

It would be just an average SE-R without the epic suspension modding. Still a boost over the GA16DE powered Sentras that are boring commuter econo-boxes. The latest thing I have done was swap in B14 B-pillar seat belts to take weight off the doors. May 26, 2009

Love it, a decent car with great potential. Picked mine up with a whopping 315K on it, but it ran like a charm. Very fun car to drive especially in the 5 speed manual. Love the sound of the SR20DE with a new exhaust on it. It handles ok even with the stock suspension, I just wish that more parts were made for the SR20DE.Aug 08, 2008

I love my car I was the first person to own my baby I drove her rite out the dealer back in 91 an I havent had any major problems thank god I just recently had my govonor replaced in the tranmission an that was it in major repairs which isnt bad at all when everyone was going threw that suv stage my husband was trying to talk me in to it but like I told him this car was here befor you an its gonna be here after you lol an look at gas prices they are so hi but not for me my baby is doing just fine I love my car to be honest I was looking at the new ones because my son is going to be driving soon an I was going to get a new sentra but I just dont like the shape of the newer cars there just so roud an cheap so i might get one but keep mines for me an let him drive the newer one Apr 17, 2008

This is my girlfriend's mom's car. Any car this age is going to have some problems, but when it is behaving, the engine is still a lot more quiet and smooth than my Saturn which is 6 years newer. I remember reading somewhere that this generation of Sentra is popular as a taxi in Mexico because of its toughness, reliability, and low cost of maintenance and repair. As far as performance and handling, it's a solid "not bad". If you want more than that, try to find an SE-R model, which has a 2-liter engine in place of the usual 1.6. My 1992 Nissan Sentra leaks oil slowly. I replace 1 bottle of oil after about a month. Can I continue doing this?
Ive had my car for 25 years with 164,000 miles. Ive never had a major problem with it. Its very reliable. The cost to repair the oil leak is about $4,000 and the front brake pads need to be replaced, 2 back tires, fuel gauge sensor and back window light has melted in its plastic casing all need to be replaced. Can I skip the oil leak repair since it doesn't touch my exhaust so I believe its not a health hazard and just pour in oil when needed? and do the rest of the repairs. How long do you think my car would last if I keep up with regular maintenance?
