What’s New for the 2023 Nissan Sentra
The eighth-generation Sentra arrived for the 2020 model year. It has featured minor incremental changes since then. It carries over into 2023 largely unchanged.
Design
The 2023 Sentra features Nissan’s contemporary design language, scaled down to the compact sedan format. The S trim comes standard with 16-inch steel wheels with plastic covers. The SV trim comes with 16-inch alloy wheels and is available with 17-inch alloy wheels. The SR trim comes equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, as well as fog lights and a rear spoiler. The SR trim is also available in the Midnight Edition, which features black 18-inch wheels and black exterior details.
Powertrain
The 2023 Nissan Sentra comes equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 149 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed to the front wheels through Nissan’s Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT), which features a manual mode with simulated tap-shift “gears.” In the S and SV trims, this powertrain returns fuel economy of 29 mpg city, 39 highway, and 33 combined. In the SR trim, it returns 28 mpg city, 37 highway, and 32 combined.
Interior
Standard equipment on the base S trim for 2023 includes a push-button start, remote keyless entry, cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, and a four-speaker stereo. The SV trim adds upgraded premium cloth seat trim, and it is available with the All-Weather Package, which adds remote start, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The SV Premium Package adds a power moonroof, leather seat trim, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.
Moving up to the SR trim makes remote start and dual-zone automatic climate control standard. Both are also available with the SR Premium Package, which further adds synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a heated steering wheel, and a power moonroof.
Technology
The Sentra S trim comes standard with a single USB port and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All other trims come with an 8-inch touchscreen and an additional USB port. The SR Premium Package adds an 8-speaker Bose premium stereo system.
Safety
Nissan provides a handful of standard driver-assistance features on the Sentra. These include forward (and reverse) automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, driver drowsiness monitoring, lane-departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring. The SV trim adds adaptive cruise control. The SR Premium Package adds a 360-degree parking camera system.
Pricing
As of this writing, the 2023 Nissan Sentra has a base MSRP of $19,950 for the entry-level S trim. The SV trim starts at $21,170, and the SR starts at $22,840. The SR Midnight Edition starts at $23,535. The Nissan Sentra is backed by a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
