Still popular after all these years, the 1992 Civic provides fuel economy, a smooth ride and good handling, and depending on which model, either good acceleration or not-so-good acceleration.
The only drawbacks, according to customer reviews, are limited storage space, some road noise, and the car's age. Some people driving with automatic transmissions report hard shifting, which may be cured with some lube conditioner. For a price tag ranging from $2,850 to $4,625, you are able, according to Civic drivers, to purchase a reliable automobile.

room inside is good not cramped. slow on hill climbs. no bottom end power but lots of torque. Cargo capacity still amazes me sometimes. auto -trans shifts to much on hills. funny when "racers" pull next to you and think you want to race. parts availabillity is phenominal. Nice performance for a 1.6l car of its age, decent handling, about consumption, it is a sucker between 6000-10000rpm, if you keep it cool (below 5000rpm) it is a regular car. had a few sensor problems, map and L went bad but they were cheap. this car looks bad and it is what it looks..Dec 04, 2011

Well, its by far not a high performance vehicle. 0-60mph in about 8 seconds,
but what it lacks in acceleration, it makes up for in the corners. It hasn't always
been a jewel, but after removing the rear seats and fabricating a custom, flat
cargo floor, its perfect for doing roadside mechanical work (for other people,
and sometimes myself) The original motor was a d15b7 (it used to be a DX)
with 326,000 miles. I replaced the top half of the engine with a USDM D16Z6
Vtec head, until, unfortunatly the bottom end went at about 504,000 miles. Its
currently got another hybrid D15B7/D16Y8 that is by no means a permanent
replacement (the piston rings are shot, burns more oil than gas). Time will tell
what the next powerplant will consist of. Originally Millano Red, I repainted the
car white about 2 years ago due to heavy oxidation on the hood and roof, I
plan to return to Millano Red next spring. The Interior consists of DA Integra
cloth seats, b&m GSR short shifter with weighted ITR Knob, JDM center console
to accomodate my double DIN touch screen, and a few more various JDM and 4
Door parts (Armrest is a must!) Details on the stereo are top secret, for
reasons I dont care to share, besides the fact that the original one was stolen
presumably by someone that knew about it. As far as quality goes, I bought
the car almost 6 years ago for $2600, and besides 2 wheel bearings, nothing in
the car originally has totally failed (i dont count the block, it was it's time) Parts
are cheap, and until I find something better, she will never be for sale.

Fun car to drive, good gas mileage, very reliable, and
unique. Exceptional car for being an 18yr old car.
Gotta have the 5 speed tranny with this car, not a lot
of get up and go, but there are a lot of engine options
out there (i.e. B16, B18, k20, etc.).Mar 16, 2010

Honda civic 1992'" 4 - door carried a 1.6-liter ,
Fuel Economy is one of the best thing on the Honda brand.
Great gas mileage, and performance. One of the best engines on a small car, easy tune-up.... and I like it a lot. Mar 10, 2010

Performance - D16Z6 Vtec Inline-4 , 5-speed transmission, Modified car that I did, The D16Z6 comes out of a Si del sol or EX civic Coupe. Motor Swap into this hatch. AEM intake, Exhaust System, Whole Engine Redone, Timed. Very Fast car. had about 150hp for a SOHC vtec car. Not bad. Spins tire to much.
Build Quality - This Car, when I got it, Needed a lot of Suspension work, Rack in pinion, Lower Controle Arms, Knuckle Arm, Tie Rods, Etc. The previous owner did some serious racing in it.
Appearance - Front Type-R Lip, 17 koing Rims, and Carbon Fiber Duck Bill Spoiler, Looks mean.
Cost of Ownership - 25-30 dollars every week and a half.
Fun Factor - Going Fast.Feb 14, 2010

It is great as a daily driver; cheap to buy and maintain. Not very powerful, but it also doesn't weigh much. May be modified extensively, so check before purchasing. Very fuel-efficient, even with poor driving habits. Fun to toss around town! Jan 25, 2010

So far it is a pretty good car. It looks great, the hatchback is nice for reversing. I only needed the car for winter, and it looks like its gonna get the job done. I already had a little bit of distributor trouble, but i fixed that. It has pretty decent power for a 1.5L. I don't really enjoy driving an automatic though.Jan 21, 2010

Heavy acceleration, good mileage and max speed of 220
km/h. Has a very powerful non v-tec engine. Sleek exterior
body design. Needs a bit of mint paint
job. Sporty and fun to drive. Rear spoiler, front body kit and
sports muffler tip makes it more sleek.Nov 11, 2009

Performance - who can beat honda 9k rpm?
Handling.. well its a light car, so 16 inch Borbet rims i had, made it a bit tricky to handle, but the looks was more important.
Cost of ownership - almost none.
Appereance - there no cars that look better than hc5 hatchback.Oct 19, 2009

handles like no other, light weight with easy modifications for some real get up and go. the stock 1.5liter i4 engine dosent seem like much but it gets around and the car will take newer larger engines (as if it really needed them) the car can basically be rebuilt with performance parts for much less than buying a new high performance carAug 19, 2009

I bought this car with the intention to hold onto it and swap a b-series engine into it, but things came up and it was time to upgrade to a better platform. I had regrets after I sold the car, but I was just happy I made someone else happy by selling it to them.Jul 10, 2009

Definitly the best ever. I think that Hondas are hugely under-rated. They are a very quick and nimble car with the right modifications done. This particular car has had a engine conversion, for the B18C and has had a fair bit of work done to the motor before it was installed. 127KW @ front wheels, not to bad considering its only 903kgs. Good set of Bilstien Shocks and springs and it goes round corner on rails.Sep 30, 2008

My best mile per gallon is 58.66 and my average is 50MPG! It has coil over suspension so you feel EVERY bump in the road. I bought it because I am currently driving about 105 miles a day and the Buick only gets like 25mpg on average. It was killing me with gas being the price it is.Aug 24, 2008

First new car I had (had used hand me downs before this one). It was very cool, bright red. I once managed to cram 8 people in this car - don't ask. This car went through hurricane Andrew getting minor dings and bumps. Great little car.Jul 04, 2008

I love my beater car! Gas mileage over 40mpg and it's got lots of spunk for being a 4 cylinder. I only wish it wouldn't be rusting so bad! It's got over 280,000 miles on it and I haven't had to do much to it at all!Jul 03, 2008

I got this car for 1400 dollars. This car currently has 280,000 plus miles. It runs great though. Burns a little oil but what do you expect from a car with that many miles. Like an good Honda owner does, I added a few mods to my EG. I lowered suspension with tockico illuminas and ground control coil overs, stock frt gsr sway bar, type-r rear sway bar, J's intake, Airmass headers, Apex exhaust modified to fit my car, JDM headlights and fog lights, JDM rear spoiler, B&M short throw shifter w/pillow mount. Future mods to include, full JDM interior from SIR, rear window wiper, and b18 swap.May 20, 2008

My 92 civic DX won't start. It won't crank, no lights come on nothing. I since then have replaced the starter, battery, battery cables, ignition switch, main battery fuse, starter fuse and still nothing. I am getting power to the starter and the battery is good. What do you think the problem may be?
Something is drawing my battery down? 1992 Honda Civic Si, have new battery, new battery cables and posts. Installed new starter and alternator. Changed spark plugs and spark plug wires. Died yesterday at work, went back hours later and fired up. Started up next morning, went home for lunch turned car off. Came back outside and turned key over and got silence? Any thoughts?
