- Fuel efficiency: 41 miles of electric range and 22 mpg combined in hybrid mode
Which Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?
The 2026 Mercedes-Benz E-Class offers these trims:
- E 450 All-Terrain: The less-expensive wagon starts at $79,650 and adds a more rugged look, technology that can assist with light off-road travel, and a height-adjustable Airmatic air suspension. It suits buyers who want the wagon format with extra versatility.
- AMG E 53 Hybrid: This performance upgrade starts at $94,700 and adds the AMG-tuned plug-in hybrid setup, AMG Speedshift nine-speed automatic transmission, fully variable AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel drive, AMG Dynamic Select driving modes, AMG performance exhaust system, adaptive damping AMG Ride Control suspension, and rear-axle steering. It is the best-value pick if you want the strongest blend of performance and efficiency.
What Mercedes-Benz E-Class do most buyers choose?
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class years with the most listings are 2018, 2015, and 2019.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2018 | 1,316 | 34% |
| 2015 | 1,249 | 33.3% |
| 2019 | 1,242 | 34.1% |
| 2017 | 1,234 | 33.2% |
| 2022 | 1,180 | 32.7% |
| 2014 | 1,095 | 35.5% |
These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare and more chances to find the right combination of price, condition, and equipment. They also often sit in the sweet spot where used-car shoppers can balance luxury features with broader availability.
What is the Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 | $47,163 | −12.91% |
| 2021 | $35,936 | −12.69% |
| 2018 | $22,833 | −9.46% |
| 2015 | $14,167 | −8.28% |
| 2020 | $29,840 | −8.09% |
| 2017 | $17,455 | −8.0% |
| 2024 | $53,325 | −7.63% |
| 2022 | $38,997 | −7.33% |
| 2014 | $12,660 | −5.55% |
| 2025 | $59,086 | −4.31% |
| 2019 | $27,216 | −4.02% |
| 2016 | $15,106 | −2.86% |
Most model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used because it creates more room for value. The steepest drops are concentrated in several newer and mid-cycle years, while a few older examples are falling more slowly. That pattern suggests you can often find meaningful savings without moving all the way to the oldest cars.
The 2016, 2019, and 2025 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Should I buy a used Mercedes-Benz E-Class now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −4.31% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −7.63%.

Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: The turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine is paired with a 120-kilowatt electric motor and 21.2-kilowatt-hour battery, and the wagon returns an EPA-rated 41 miles of electric range and 22 mpg combined in hybrid mode.
- Tech: Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with an augmented reality navigation system and a Burmester 4D surround-sound system with Dolby Atmos technology.

The E-class is the midsize line of Mercedes cars, so it’s fine for all sizes except for very tall and large people. The new inline six cylinder is my favorite engine because it has plenty of power and is fuel efficient. Overall, the quality is here and has been for years.

Why it stands out
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class stands out for offering a rare kind of luxury in a class of one, especially in Cabriolet form. Following a substantial refresh for the 2021 model year, the 2022 lineup changes little overall, which means it continues to lean on the E-Class’s established strengths rather than chasing a major redesign.
For 2022, the most significant change is the cancellation of the AMG E63 and E63 S variants, and the lineup is left with turbocharged four-cylinder and six-cylinder power plants. Automatic high-beam headlights are standard on all 2022 E-Class models, and a couple of paint colors are new. In the coupe and convertible body styles, rear USB charging ports are now standard equipment. That combination makes the E-Class appealing to buyers who want a polished luxury experience with a few useful updates, though the loss of the V8-powered AMG versions narrows the range of performance choices.
