The Ford Mustang Mach-E is Ford’s very first bespoke electric vehicle. There have been several recalls of 2021 and 2022 Mustang Mach-Es for software updates. Several were also recalled for an overheating battery contactor, which made itself known after DC Fast Charging, or what Ford called “wide open pedal events.” It applied to only GT models and trims with the extended range battery. Otherwise, the complaints about Mustang Mach-E ownership have been largely quiet.

Is the Ford Mustang Mach-E worth the cost?

When new, the Mustang Mach-E starts at $42,995, but that’s for the standard range (250 mile) battery. If you can live with that and can make the most of the full $7,500 tax rebate, you can be in a Mach-E for what you’d pay for a nicely equipped Escape. You can’t get BlueCruise hands-free cruise control in an Escape, but It comes standard in the base Mach-E. The performance trim is nice, but you kind of sacrifice the benefits of an EV buy owning something that can hit 60 MPH in 3.5 seconds. With under 30,000 miles, a Mustang Mach-E Premium should cost roughly $35,000 (and you’re still eligible for the maximum $4,000 tax credit for used EVs).
