Main concern was low mileage and upgrading from 1/2 ton to 3/4 or 1 ton for towing RV across the country. My F-150 was capable but had high miles and showed its towing limitations on long trips and in mountainous terrain. This is an XL trim line but has the STX and off road package and as a 1 ton has power and suspension capability to spare for towing our 23’ couples coach through the Rockies. Ride is much stiffer and steering ratio is slightly different than the 1/2 ton but nothing I can’t get used to. I plan on putting aftermarket shocks on to civilize the ride a bit. My F-150 had a more car-like feel overall but the F-350 is definitely a TRUCK and feels like it. Still, this particular vehicle had the exact cab and bed configuration I wanted and I feel very confident embarking on a month long, coast to coast camping adventure.

I didn't purchase this truck. It doesn't have what I was looking for in a f-350.

Why it stands out
The 2023 Ford F-350 Super Duty stands out as a serious heavy-duty work truck that still aims to be livable day to day. In this generation, Ford redesigned the truck from the ground up and gave it a beefy frame, new styling, and a broader spread of powertrains. The lineup includes the familiar 7.3-liter “Godzilla” V8, a new 6.8-liter gas V8, and a high-output 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel rated at 500 horsepower and 1,200 pound-feet of torque. That diesel helps give the F-350 the kind of capability buyers expect from a truck in this class, with towing figures that reach up to 25,000 pounds with a conventional hitch in single-rear-wheel form or up to 38,000 pounds with a gooseneck/fifth-wheel hitch in dual-rear-wheel form.
What also makes the 2023 Ford F-350 Super Duty distinctive is how much technology Ford built into it. Even the base truck gets an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, while higher trims can have a 12.0-inch display and a configurable 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster. Standard 5G WiFi hotspot capability, fleet-management and telematics apps, onboard scales, trailer-aware surround-view monitoring, trailer navigation, adaptive cruise control with lane centering, and Pro Trailer hitch all reinforce its towing-first mission. Ford also made four-wheel drive the default on more models, while still offering rear-wheel-drive XL, XLT, and Lariat versions for buyers who want the highest capacities.
The tradeoff is that this is still a big, expensive truck, and its strengths are aimed squarely at buyers who need real hauling and towing ability. The F-350 Super Duty’s appeal comes from its combination of immense capability, a wide range of cab, bed, and drivetrain choices, and a cabin that is far more modern than the old-school heavy-duty trucks of the past.
