How much does the Dodge Challenger cost in today's market?

Used Dodge Challenger prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Dodge Challenger's current nationwide average price is $28,708, and its lowest point over the past year was $27,945.

Recently, prices have come down for the 2021 and 2022 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Yes — the Dodge Challenger is a strong pick if you want a muscle car with broad appeal and a loyal owner base. The all-generations owner rating is 4.7/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, comfortable ride, and distinctive retro styling. They also frequently highlight the roomy cabin and the way the car blends classic character with modern technology.

Expert reviews rate the 2015 and 2020 models among the highest across all years.

Are Dodge Challenger models reliable?

• Owners rate the Dodge Challenger between 4.4 and 4.9 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, the biggest long-term ownership risk comes from choosing a neglected example, so a careful inspection and vehicle-history review matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used Dodge Challenger?

Across all model years, at 65% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: Fuel economy is an oxymoron. Quaffing premium gas at a rate of 15 mpg in combined driving, according to the EPA, a Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye costs plenty of money to buy and to keep on the road.

Which Dodge Challenger trim should I buy?

The 2023 Dodge Challenger offers these trims:

• SXT: The entry point in the 2023 lineup, with the base rear-wheel-drive setup and the Challenger’s classic coupe character.
• Black Ghost: The rarest and most theatrical special edition here, based on the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody and loaded with exclusive retro styling, premium interior materials, and 807 hp.
• SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody: The performance foundation for the Black Ghost, bringing the supercharged 6.2-liter V8, adaptive damping suspension, and Brembo performance brakes.

• Swinger: Another limited “Last Call” special edition, also capped at 1,000 examples.

• Super Stock: A high-performance special edition in the 2023 range, aimed at buyers who want serious straight-line capability.
• Hellcat: A high-output V8 trim for shoppers who want big power and the Challenger’s full muscle-car attitude.
• Redeye: The step-up performance trim for buyers who want even more power and presence.
• Widebody: The body style that adds broader fenders and a more aggressive stance to the performance-focused trims.

What Dodge Challenger do most buyers choose?

The Dodge Challenger years with the most listings are 2022, 2023, and 2021.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, more pricing flexibility, and a wider spread of trims and equipment. That combination makes it easier to find a Challenger that fits your budget and feature priorities.

What is the Dodge Challenger's resale value?

Most model years in this set are moving lower year over year, which is good news if you want to buy used. A few newer and older examples are holding firmer or edging up, so the market is not moving in one direction across every year.

The 2014 model year is holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2023, 2014, and 2022 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
