New & Used 2026 Toyota Sequoia for Sale nearGrand Rapids, MI

Is the 2026 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

The 2026 Toyota Sequoia earns a 6.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

It fits your needs best if you want a full-size SUV that can carry up to eight passengers and tow a heavy load while still benefiting from a hybrid powertrain. The Sequoia’s hybrid setup gives it strong power and makes it the most efficient vehicle in the class outside of expensive diesels, but the fuel-economy improvement is only minor. That means you get a distinctive mix of capability and efficiency, not a dramatic efficiency breakthrough.

The trade-offs are real: the hybrid system cuts into cargo space, and the Sequoia still brings the cumbersome handling and hefty pricing common to body-on-frame SUVs. If you value towing and passenger capacity more than refinement, those compromises may be acceptable.

Good and great deals account for 34.8% of listings, which suggests there’s at least some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

The 2026 Toyota Sequoia is presented as a conventional body-on-frame SUV with a hybrid powertrain that feels strong and sounds V8-like, and its performance is described as robust from a stop with plenty of passing punch. Toyota’s hybrid system is also framed as a meaningful advantage over gas-powered rivals, even if the efficiency gains are modest.

The Sequoia’s hybrid setup uses a twin-turbocharged V6, an electric motor, and a battery pack to support acceleration, and the truck-based layout is built for towing and hauling rather than delicate refinement. Toyota also includes a first scheduled maintenance visit as part of the ownership experience.

For used buyers, the long-term ownership risk is mostly tied to the usual full-size SUV compromises rather than any standout mechanical red flag in the provided data.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Toyota Sequoia?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a truck that may have been used for towing or family hauling. Pay close attention to cargo-area wear, suspension behavior, and any signs that the vehicle has lived a hard life. If you’re shopping a higher-trim or off-road example, make sure the equipment matches the seller’s description and that all systems work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SR5 comes with cloth upholstery, while the other trims have real leather, and the Platinum and Capstone add contrast stitching. The cabin quality is only acceptable at these prices, so you should compare materials carefully if you want a more upscale feel.
• Powertrain: The Sequoia uses a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 hybrid setup with 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. It feels strong from a stop, can tow up to 9,520 pounds, and the TRD Pro adds off-road-tuned suspension hardware.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist, high-beam assist, and traffic-sign recognition. Also standard are blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: The Sequoia has a standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, though a 14-inch touchscreen is available on the next trim up or as an option on the base SR5. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system also supports over-the-air updates through connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sequoia is EPA rated at up to 21 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined with rear-wheel drive, or 19/22/20 mpg with 4WD.

Which 2026 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?

The 2026 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, 1794 Edition, and Capstone.

Here’s the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Sequoia’s core hybrid powertrain and standard tech without the higher-trim luxury extras. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting point and plan to add only the options you really need.
• Limited: This is the trim to focus on if you want the best balance of equipment and value. It adds a step up in comfort and tech over the SR5 without pushing you into the pricier luxury end of the lineup.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin, since it adds contrast stitching and a more premium presentation.
• TRD Pro: This is the off-road-focused choice. It adds all-terrain tires, off-road-tuned suspension, a front grille light bar, an aluminum front skid plate, all-weather floor mats, and the most trail-ready hardware in the lineup.
• 1794 Edition: This is the style-and-luxury pick, aimed at buyers who want a more distinctive upscale feel.
• Capstone: This is the top-end luxury trim, and it stands apart with body-colored wheel flares instead of the black wheel flares used on other models.

Toyota’s safety package is standard across the lineup, and no safety options are offered beyond the standard equipment.
