How much does the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan earns a 6/10 expert rating.

The model scores 6/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It brings a redesigned exterior and a more modern cabin, and it corrects the last generation’s user-interface issues while keeping the German look and feel that helps it stand apart. It also fits the compact-SUV brief well, with a comfortable ride and a quiet cabin.

The trade-offs are that it does not separate itself much from the crowd in a very competitive segment, and it has not much cargo space.

You get a broad-appeal compact SUV that should suit you if you want a polished daily driver more than a standout performance machine.

There are 38.0% good or great deals in the market, which suggests shoppers still have room to find value.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is presented as a comprehensive improvement over its predecessor, with a more polished drivetrain and a cabin that feels calmer and more refined in everyday use.

Its powertrain is described as smoother and more linear than before, with fewer surges or slow reactions, and the suspension is tuned to favor comfort while still keeping body roll in check. The quiet cabin also supports the impression of a well-sorted daily driver.

The available information also points to a vehicle that should be straightforward to live with, especially if you value comfort and predictable behavior over excitement.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Tiguan’s appeal is strongest in refinement rather than standout capability, so you should be sure the example you choose is in strong condition and fits your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

Even with a strong share of clean listings, you should still run a history report and verify service records before you buy. A pre-purchase inspection is especially useful if you’re comparing multiple trims or looking at a higher-mileage example.

Focus on cabin condition, electronics operation, and how well the vehicle’s comfort features and driver-assistance systems work in real use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim is well equipped, but higher trims add more convenience and luxury touches. The top SEL R-Line stands out with illuminated exterior elements, a larger display, a premium audio option, and more advanced parking and camera tech.
• Powertrain: The Tiguan uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, and 4Motion all-wheel drive is available on all models and standard on the top SEL R-Line.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, safe passenger exit warnings, parking proximity sensors, automatic high beams, a driver condition monitor, Emergency Assist, and post-collision braking. The SE R-Line adds a head-up display, while the SEL R-Line adds a surround-view camera system, a traffic sign reader, and a semi-automated parking system.
• Infotainment: All models get a 12.9-inch touchscreen, a digital instrument panel, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless phone charger. A 15-inch display is available and standard on the top trim, and it adds native navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The base S trim is estimated at up to 26 mpg city, 34 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. With 4Motion AWD, the estimate drops to 22/30 mpg city/highway and 25 mpg combined.

Which 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan trim should I buy?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SE R-Line, SEL R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the best-value choice if you want the Tiguan’s core strengths without paying for extras. It comes well equipped, and the standard feature set should satisfy most compact-SUV shoppers.
• SE R-Line: This is the step-up trim to consider if you want more convenience and a head-up display without jumping all the way to the top model.
• SEL R-Line: This is the most feature-rich version, with standard 4Motion AWD, the larger display, premium audio availability, and the most advanced parking and camera features.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, and the higher trims mainly add convenience and luxury rather than changing the Tiguan’s character.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,591 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.74% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,013, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $30,013 sits slightly below last year's $34,394.

That price movement suggests the Tiguan has become more approachable for used buyers, which can help you enter the market at a lower cost. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect a softer resale environment than the prior year.

If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should be able to protect value better than the market average. The key is to avoid overpaying now, since the current trend still favors buyers more than sellers.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan safe?

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan has not yet been rated by NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, safe passenger exit warnings, parking proximity sensors, automatic high beams, and a driver condition monitor. Emergency Assist can slow the vehicle to a stop and activate the hazard lights if the driver is incapacitated, and post-collision braking helps reduce the chance of secondary impacts.

The midrange trims performed well in testing, with no false alarms or over-sensitivity issues, and the lane-keep assist has a sensible amount of steering correction. Higher trims add more hardware, including a head-up display on the SE R-Line and a surround-view camera system, traffic sign reader, and semi-automated parking system on the SEL R-Line.

Should I buy a 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.74% compared with last year.
• The redesigned model fixes the old interface and adds a more modern, polished cabin.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $24,367, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $30,013 average.
• It makes more desirable safety technology standard and strengthens value for shoppers.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a more powerful SEL R-Line Turbo trim level with a stronger performance and luxury focus.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern version of the Tiguan’s design and cabin, the 2025 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the smarter value play. If you’re willing to spend more for a stronger top-end experience, the 2026 is the one to watch.
