CarGurus Analysis: 2025 Toyota Sequoia
overall

Summary
With 1,408 currently listed for sale and an average price of $70,578, 36.0% of 2025 Toyota Sequoia listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2025 Toyota Sequoia 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 5.5 / 10.
95.2% of 2025 Toyota Sequoia listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2025 Toyota Sequoia stands out as Toyota’s full-size SUV, and it shares its platform with the Tundra pickup truck while using the same i-Force Max hybrid powertrain. It also brings a new reason to look at the lineup in the form of the 1794 Edition, a Texas-themed luxury model that adds a more upscale angle to the Sequoia’s otherwise utility-first mission. On top of that, the Sequoia can seat up to eight people, which helps reinforce its role as a large family hauler.
Even so, the 2025 Sequoia’s appeal is tempered by some clear compromises. It can hold up to 86.9 cubic feet of cargo, carry up to 1,730 pounds of payload, and tow up to 9,520 pounds of trailer, but its packaging limits mean it is most convincing when towing rather than as an all-around class leader. The SUV’s strengths include stylish design, a powerful engine, and easy-to-use technology, while its drawbacks include poor fuel economy, a cramped third row, and not much cargo space.

I love everything about the Sequoia except for the cargo space.

Reviewed a 2025 Toyota TRD Pro 4WD on Aug 7, 2025
I think this car is a good value. I think the gas mileage really isn't any better than my 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro V8 that I traded in for the Sequoia. However the features of the 2025 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro cannot be beat. I don't think Toyota missed a detail on this beauty. The vehicle has the smoothest ride of any vehicle I have ever been in. This SUV turns on a dime. I would compare it closest to the GMC Yukon Denali, except the Sequoia is cooler not just for it's rugged exterior but the red camo leather interior that is a perfect compliment to the Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro unique character and customer base.

Is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia a good car?
Yes — the 2025 Toyota Sequoia earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 5.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Technology.
It stands out as Toyota’s full-size SUV, with seating for up to eight people, a truck-based platform shared with the Tundra, and a standard hybrid powertrain. That combination makes it appealing if you want a large family hauler with real towing ability and a more upscale angle in the 1794 Edition.
The trade-offs are clear: the Sequoia’s packaging limits keep it from being a class leader in everyday versatility, and the expert review calls out poor fuel economy, a cramped third row, and limited cargo space. Even so, the strong design and easy-to-use technology help it make a convincing case if your priorities lean toward towing and passenger capacity.
36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Sequoia’s reliability case is helped by Toyota’s reputation for straightforward, durable utility, and this model year’s expert review emphasizes its standard hybrid setup and broad safety equipment. The powertrain is described as muscular and capable, with the hybrid system delivering competitive power rather than chasing maximum efficiency.
If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Sequoia’s size, weight, and packaging compromises can make upkeep and day-to-day livability more demanding than you might expect.
What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Toyota Sequoia?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one that’s been used for towing. Focus on overall condition, because the Sequoia’s value proposition depends heavily on whether it has been maintained well and used within its strengths.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The 1794 Edition adds machined-finish 20-inch wheels, more exterior chrome, Saddle Tan leather upholstery, open pore American walnut wood trim, and all-weather floor mats over the Platinum. It is the most upscale-feeling choice in the lineup, while the base trims are more straightforward and utility-focused.
- Powertrain: The standard i-Force Max hybrid pairs a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6, an electric motor, a 1.87-kilowatt-hour nickel metal hydride battery pack, and a 10-speed automatic transmission. It delivers strong output and quick acceleration, but the review says it is about power, not good gas mileage.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane-centering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.
- Infotainment: The test vehicle had a 14-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. It also supports connected services, though several advanced functions depend on subscriptions.
- Fuel efficiency: The review says a 4WD Sequoia should average 20 mpg in combined driving, but the test vehicle returned 16.2 mpg on the evaluation loop.
Which 2025 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?
The 2025 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, Capstone, and 1794 Edition.
Here's the short version:
- SR5: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Sequoia’s core towing and seating capability without paying for luxury extras.
- Limited: This is the trim to target if you want a more balanced mix of equipment and value, since it sits above the base model without pushing into luxury pricing.
- Platinum: This is the best-value trim if you want a more upscale cabin and a stronger feature set before the price climbs into specialty territory.
- TRD Pro: Choose this if you want the most rugged-looking and off-road-oriented version in the lineup, especially if that character matters more than luxury touches.
- Capstone: This is the premium choice if you want the most upscale Sequoia experience and are willing to pay for it.
- 1794 Edition: This is the standout for buyers who want the Texas-themed luxury treatment, with Saddle Tan leather, walnut trim, and a more distinctive cabin.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard across the lineup, along with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Toyota Sequoia?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.
- Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,401 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.97% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 95.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $70,584, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia's resale value?
The current average of $70,584 sits slightly below last year's $76,700.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit upside if you plan to sell soon. For a future seller, the key question is whether the Sequoia’s strong towing ability and Toyota badge can offset its packaging compromises and fuel-economy drawbacks.
If demand stays steady for large SUVs with real towing capability, resale should remain supported. But the softer pricing trend means you should expect a more competitive used market than last year.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2025 Toyota Sequoia safe?
The 2025 Sequoia has not yet been rated by IIHS or NHTSA in the provided data.
It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane-centering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.
The main caveat is that the lane-assist features can be intrusive, with false lane-departure warnings and overly obvious lane keep assist behavior. If those systems bother you, you may want to test them carefully before buying.
Should I buy a 2025 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2025 if:
- 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.97% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 1794 Edition adds a more upscale Texas-themed luxury angle to the lineup.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $65,095, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $70,584 average.
- It pairs full-size SUV utility with a standard hybrid powertrain.
Consider the 2026 if:
- It adds a broader trim spread and more interior refinements.
- Standard power-folding third-row seats make it more family-friendly.
The bottom line: If you want the newest version with the 1794 Edition and a softer market, the 2025 is the better target. If price matters most, the 2024 is the smarter value play, while the 2026 makes sense if you want the latest refinements and can pay more.
