How much does the 2025 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 8.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,297 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.

The 2025 redesign brings more capability, power, comfort, and technology, while also making the 4Runner more composed on pavement. It still keeps the rugged, all-terrain character that makes it appealing if you want a vehicle ready for longer adventures.

The trade-offs are clear: the rear seat is limited, and the more off-road-focused versions can bring extra road noise. Even so, the overall package is strong if you want a capable SUV that feels more modern than the outgoing version.

With 38.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 4Runner is presented as a redesigned model that keeps the formula shoppers have liked for years while updating the powertrain lineup with more contemporary four-cylinder engines. That combination points to a vehicle built to preserve the nameplate’s durability-focused identity while adding newer hardware and better efficiency.

Its standard turbocharged four-cylinder is described as more powerful than the previous V6, and the hybrid adds stronger low-speed usable power. Toyota also positions the model as a standout with its reputation for reliability.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a more capable, more complex redesign can bring more systems to evaluate carefully during ownership.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Toyota 4Runner?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on higher-mileage examples or trucks that may have seen trail use. Focus on overall condition, signs of hard use, and whether the equipment you want is actually present on the trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes a wide spread of trims, from the base SR5 to more adventure-focused versions. The standard setup emphasizes rugged utility, while higher trims add more capability and equipment; the base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more features.
• Powertrain: Entry-level trims use a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 317 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque, while the hybrid raises output to 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid is the stronger choice if you want more low-speed punch and better efficiency.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard and includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts is optional.
• Infotainment: An 8-inch touchscreen is standard on supporting trims, while a 14-inch screen is available. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are offered, along with a wireless charging pad and a digital instrument panel on Hybrid variants.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard four-cylinder is estimated at 20 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. The hybrid is estimated at 23/24/23.

Which 2025 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2025 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 9 trim levels: SR5, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, Trailhunter, and other trims referenced in the model’s lineup.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point and the best fit if you want the lowest starting price and the core 4Runner experience without paying for extra off-road hardware.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the best-value choice if you want a stronger adventure focus without jumping all the way to the most expensive trims. It adds more capability while staying more approachable than the top models.
• TRD Pro: This is the pick if you want the most capable adventure-oriented version in the lineup and are willing to pay for it.
• Trailhunter: This is the most specialized overland-style choice, aimed at buyers who want the most trail-ready setup and can live with its added road noise.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 comes standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts remains optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Toyota 4Runner?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 38.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,297 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.40% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 95.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $48,710, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $49,149 sits slightly below last year's $53,657.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If you plan to resell later, the current softness may limit near-term appreciation, but it can also make your entry price more attractive.

Because the model still has strong demand and a clear identity, well-kept examples should remain appealing to shoppers who want a rugged SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2025 Toyota 4Runner does not yet have crash test results from either IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard and includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and Proactive Driving Assist. That last feature can be intrusive for some drivers, though you can disable it.

Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts is optional, so you’ll want to confirm whether a used example has that extra coverage. The lack of published crash-test results is the main caveat to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2025 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 38.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a redesigned, more capable, more comfortable, and more tech-forward 4Runner with a more efficient hybrid option.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $47,153, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $49,149 average.
• It remains a rugged, off-road-focused SUV with strong reliability and durability.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It leans even more clearly into adventure while offering an available hybrid powertrain.
• It emphasizes off-road ability, but passenger comfort and interior space remain compromises.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern 4Runner package, the 2025 is the better primary choice because it adds capability, refinement, and technology without abandoning the model’s core identity. If price matters most, the 2024 is the value play, while the 2026 makes sense if you want to compare the next model year’s adventure-first positioning before buying.
