How much does the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost?

Prices have softened 8.66% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 540 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The S-Class is built around comfort, performance, technology, and refinement, and it stays true to that mission for 2025 with only small updates such as standard digital key functionality, a center airbag, and wider availability of the AMG Line trim package. It also offers multiple powertrain choices, so you can tailor the car to your priorities if you have the budget for a flagship luxury sedan.

The main trade-offs are practical ones: it does not offer much cargo space, and its capacitive touch controls can be frustrating.

30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The S-Class is positioned as a flagship luxury sedan with premium materials, strong construction, and a focus on comfort and refinement. Its powertrains are described as smooth and civilized, and the plug-in hybrid setup is presented as especially seamless in operation. The expert notes also emphasize that the car’s systems worked flawlessly during testing.

The plug-in hybrid’s efficiency and the model’s overall sophistication should make it appealing for long-term ownership, but you should still plan for the usual high-end luxury-car costs and complexity.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a car with advanced electronics, multiple powertrain choices, and a long list of driver-assistance features. Focus on how the cabin controls operate in real use, since the touch-based interface can be frustrating, and make sure the car’s luxury features and safety systems work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin emphasizes premium materials, with supple leather, attractive trim elements, and a striking horizontal dashboard layout. The base setup already feels richly appointed, while the Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat amenities such as an infotainment-system tablet, voice controls, a wireless charging pad, and an entertainment system with two 11.6-inch displays.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, and plug-in hybrid versions that add electric motors and battery packs. The plug-in hybrid stands out for combining strong output with an estimated 48 miles of electric range.
• Safety package: Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automated lane-change assist, evasive steering assistance, automatic reverse braking, a semi-automated parking system, and a surround-view camera system. The Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, native navigation with augmented reality video overlays, voice recognition, and a Burmester surround-sound system. The Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat tech, and you can also add a 3D instrument panel, augmented reality overlays in the head-up display, and a Burmester High-End 4D sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The plug-in hybrid is the efficiency leader with 48 miles of electric range and 23 mpg in combined driving once the battery is depleted. The base six-cylinder is rated at 24 mpg combined, while the V8 is rated at 20 mpg.

Which 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is offered in 4 trim levels: S 500, S 580, S 580e, AMG S 63 E Performance.

Here's the short version:

• S 500: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the S-Class experience with the turbocharged inline-six, strong output, and the core luxury and technology features. It makes the most sense if you want the least expensive path into the lineup without giving up the flagship feel.
• S 580: This trim adds the twin-turbo V8 and more power, making it the better choice if you want a stronger performance cushion while staying in the mainstream luxury side of the lineup.
• S 580e: This is the best-value trim if you want the broadest mix of power and efficiency. It pairs the six-cylinder with an electric motor, delivers strong output, and offers the lineup’s best fuel economy and electric range.
• AMG S 63 E Performance: This is the performance flagship, with a plug-in hybrid V8 setup and dramatically higher output. It suits you if outright speed is the priority and price is secondary.

The Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat amenities and rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.

• Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 540 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.66% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 95.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $123,725, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?

The current average of $123,756 sits slightly below last year's $135,485.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to create better buying conditions now, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if values continue to soften. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you should be better positioned to preserve value than someone who pays near the top of the range. The model’s flagship status and broad appeal help support demand, even in a softer market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class safe?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class does not have published crash test results from IIHS or NHTSA for this generation.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automated lane-change assist, evasive steering assistance, automatic reverse braking, a semi-automated parking system, and a surround-view camera system. The Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags.

The expert evaluation says these systems worked flawlessly in testing, and the adaptive cruise control is especially strong. The main caveat is that some of the most advanced safety and driver-assist features can be tied to higher trims or packages.

Should I buy a 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model adds newly standard digital key functionality and a center airbag, plus wider availability of the AMG Line trim package.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of this flagship sedan with slightly better market pricing than last year, the 2025 is the right path. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may deliver a similar luxury experience for less, but the 2025’s updated standard equipment makes it the cleaner choice if you can stretch.
