How much does the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost?

Prices have softened 9.03% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 547 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

It’s built around comfort, performance, technology, and refinement, and it stays true to its flagship-luxury mission with only small updates for 2025. The trade-offs are practical ones: it does not offer much cargo space, and its capacitive touch controls can be frustrating.

The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 29.6% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The S-Class is presented as a deeply polished flagship with premium materials, strong construction, and a broad range of powertrain choices. Its performance tuning is described as smooth and civilized, and the cabin is engineered for quiet, cosseting comfort. The plug-in hybrid setup is also described as harmonious, with the electric motor and gas engine working together seamlessly.

If you plan to own one used, the biggest long-term risk is less about basic competence and more about complexity, since this is a highly advanced luxury sedan with expensive systems and a lot of technology to keep in top shape.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a car with this much technology and luxury equipment. Focus on the condition of the interior controls, infotainment operation, and any optional equipment that may be costly to repair or replace. It’s also smart to verify that the car’s advanced driver-assistance features and charging or hybrid systems, if equipped, are working as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin emphasizes premium materials, with supple leather, lacquered wood, walnut trim, and a carbon-fiber-like dot pattern available. The base setup already feels richly appointed, while the Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat amenities such as an infotainment-system tablet, voice controls, a wireless charging pad, and an entertainment system with two 11.6-inch displays.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, and a plug-in hybrid setup that pairs the six-cylinder with an electric motor and battery pack. The plug-in hybrid is the efficiency leader, and the performance-focused AMG variant sits at the top of the range.
• Safety package: Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automated lane-change assist, evasive steering assistance, automatic reverse braking, a semi-automated parking system, and a surround-view camera system. The Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags.
• Infotainment: All models have a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, native navigation with augmented reality video overlays, voice recognition, and a Burmester surround-sound system. A digital key feature is also standard, and the Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat tech and convenience upgrades.
• Fuel efficiency: The plug-in hybrid is rated at 48 miles of electric range and 23 mpg in combined driving once the battery is depleted. The base six-cylinder is rated at 24 mpg combined, and the V8 is rated at 20 mpg.

Which 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is offered in 4 trim levels: S 500, S 580, S 580e, AMG S 63 E Performance.

Here's the short version:

• S 500: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the full S-Class experience with the standard digital instrument panel, infotainment touchscreen, navigation with augmented reality overlays, voice recognition, Burmester audio, and the standard safety suite. It’s the most accessible way into the lineup and the best-value trim if you want the S-Class name and core luxury without chasing extra power.
• S 580: This trim adds the twin-turbo V8 and more power than the base model, while keeping the same luxury and tech foundation. It suits you if you want stronger acceleration and are willing to pay more for it.
• S 580e: This plug-in hybrid combines the base six-cylinder with an electric motor and battery pack, giving you more power than the V8 and better efficiency than the base engine. It’s the smartest pick if you can charge at home or work and want the most balanced mix of performance and efficiency.
• AMG S 63 E Performance: This is the performance flagship, with a plug-in hybrid V8 setup and the highest output in the lineup. It’s the right choice if you want maximum speed and don’t mind the steep price.

The Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat amenities and rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

The market looks moderately favorable for selective buyers.

• Deal availability: 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 547 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.03% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 95.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $123,607, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?

The current average of $125,205 sits slightly below last year's $137,629.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, which can make it harder for a seller to command a premium right away. If you’re planning to sell later, the current softness means you may need to price competitively to move the car. On the other hand, the S-Class’s flagship status and broad appeal can still help support demand when the car is well equipped and well maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class safe?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class has not yet been rated by either NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automated lane-change assist, evasive steering assistance, automatic reverse braking, a semi-automated parking system, and a surround-view camera system. The Pinnacle trim adds rear-seat side and seatbelt airbags.

Should I buy a 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 update adds newly standard digital key functionality and a center airbag, plus wider availability of the AMG Line trim package.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of this flagship sedan with the latest small updates and a market that has softened, the 2025 is the straightforward choice. If your priority is simply getting into an S-Class for less, a nearby model year may be worth a look, especially if you can find a cleaner or better-priced example with the equipment you want.
