How much does the 2025 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 5.38% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,193 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2025 Honda Pilot a good car?

Yes — with a 4.91/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating, you’re looking at a model that resonates strongly with owners and still earns a respectable expert score.

The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, spacious interior, and plenty of cargo space. They also like the comfortable seating and the sense of security that comes from the Pilot’s safety reputation. On the downside, some drivers want a larger dash screen and more luxury features in the lower trims.

From an expert perspective, the Pilot’s roomy cabin and easy daily livability are major strengths, especially if you want a practical three-row SUV for family duty. The trade-offs are familiar: the technology feels dated, and the front passenger seat lacks adjustment.

With 36.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s enough market activity to find a competitive example if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.91/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with repeated praise for the Pilot’s smooth ride, spacious cabin, and confidence-inspiring feel. The expert evaluation also reinforces that sense of durability by describing the Pilot as easy to live with and well suited to everyday use.

Honda’s Service Pass coverage is limited to 12 months or 12,000 miles, so you should still pay close attention to maintenance history and remaining warranty coverage when shopping used. For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about outright dependability and more about whether you’re comfortable with the Pilot’s modest fuel economy and dated tech.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Honda Pilot?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

Even with a strong share of clean listings, you should still run a history report and verify that the vehicle has no hidden damage or title issues. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important if you’re considering a higher-trim example with more equipment, since more features can mean more to check. Focus on cabin condition, electronics, and how well the vehicle’s family-use features have been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport is affordable but light on amenities, while the EX-L is the recommended minimum if you want a more appealing everyday setup. The TrailSport adds off-roading capability, and the Black Edition brings blacked-out exterior trim, black wheels, black badges, black leather seats, red contrast stitching, and red ambient lighting.
• Powertrain: You get a single 3.5-liter V6 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. It makes 285 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, and the Pilot can tow up to 5,000 pounds. Front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are both offered, and AWD versions add hill descent control and torque vectoring.
• Safety package: Every version includes Honda Sensing with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims can add parking sensors and a multi-view camera system with TrailWatch technology.
• Infotainment: The Black Edition uses a 9-inch touchscreen and a 10.2-inch digital gauge panel. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with wireless smartphone charging, SiriusXM satellite radio, navigation, HondaLink services, Wi-Fi access, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Pilot averaged 20 mpg on the evaluation loop and 17.8 mpg in city-heavy driving, with an official combined rating of 21 mpg.

Which 2025 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2025 Honda Pilot is offered in 6 trim levels: Sport, EX-L, TrailSport, Touring, Elite, and Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, but it’s the least compelling choice if you want the Pilot to feel well equipped. It makes sense only if you’re prioritizing the lowest price and can live without many amenities.
• EX-L: This is the best-value trim because it adds the leather-lined feel the Pilot benefits from without pushing you too far up the price ladder. If you want the most balanced mix of comfort and value, this is the one to target.
• TrailSport: Choose this if you want the Pilot’s more rugged character and added off-roading capability. It’s the trim that best matches buyers who expect to leave pavement more often.
• Touring: This is the better pick if you want more of the Pilot’s convenience and tech without going all the way to the top. It suits shoppers who want a more upscale family SUV.
• Elite: This trim is for buyers who want the most premium Pilot experience before the special edition. It adds more luxury-oriented appeal, though the expert notes still point to some tech limitations.
• Black Edition: This is the top-of-the-line style play, with blacked-out exterior trim and red interior accents. It’s the right choice if you want the most distinctive look and don’t mind paying for it.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, so you don’t need to move up just to get the core safety suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Honda Pilot?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,193 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.38% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $42,146, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $42,146 sits slightly below last year's $44,544.

That price movement suggests the Pilot has softened enough to create a better entry point for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations. If you buy well now, you’re starting from a more favorable cost basis than shoppers were a year ago. The Pilot’s broad appeal should help support demand, especially for clean, well-kept examples with desirable trims and strong equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.91/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2025 Honda Pilot earns a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Every version comes standard with Honda Sensing, which includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims can add parking sensors and a multi-view camera system with TrailWatch technology.

There are some caveats to keep in mind. The expert evaluation notes that lane-centering assist can feel artificial, road sign recognition can be inaccurate, and adaptive cruise control can behave awkwardly in traffic. Those issues don’t erase the Pilot’s strong crash-test reputation, but they do mean you should test the driver-assistance systems carefully on a used example.

Should I buy a 2025 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.91/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Honda keeps the formula simple with one powertrain, available AWD, and the Black Edition returning for 2025.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It gets a more truck-like look while staying fundamentally familiar.

The bottom line: If you want the better shopping environment and a proven formula, the 2025 is the safer buy. If styling matters more than price, the 2026 gives you a fresher look without changing the Pilot’s core mission. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2025 is the smarter path because the market has already softened and inventory is healthy.
