Used 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan for Sale near Vermont

How much does the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Prices have softened 6.93% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,420 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The Tiguan’s appeal comes from its premium look, standard safety technology, and practical value for shoppers who want a compact SUV with a more upscale feel. It also has good handling and visibility, which help it feel smaller and more maneuverable than you might expect.

The trade-offs are real, though: the driving experience is not especially rewarding, the throttle can feel irritating, and the seats are uncomfortable. Volkswagen also does not offer a hybrid option, so efficiency-focused shoppers may want to look elsewhere.

38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Tiguan’s reliability case is helped by its standard safety equipment, four-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty, and included scheduled maintenance coverage. Volkswagen also includes roadside assistance and connected services that add convenience and security.

The model’s standard turbocharged engine and conventional automatic transmission give you a straightforward powertrain setup, and the vehicle’s overall ownership package is designed to be practical rather than complicated. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that comfort and efficiency concerns may matter more as mileage adds up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report, verify service records, and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on seat comfort, throttle behavior, and how the infotainment and driver-assistance systems operate in real-world use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Tiguan S is the most stripped-down version, with grayscale color choices, cloth seating surfaces, heated front seats, a 6.5-inch infotainment touchscreen, and just two USB-C ports. Moving up adds more comfort and convenience, while the top trim brings the most upscale cabin materials and features.
• Powertrain: Every 2024 Tiguan uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and 4Motion all-wheel drive is available on the lower trims.
• Safety package: IQ.DRIVE is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, active blind-spot monitoring with steering intervention, Lane Assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist. It also includes rear cross-traffic alert, automatic post-collision braking, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, and automatic emergency braking.
• Infotainment: The Tiguan uses an 8-inch center touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the base S gets a 6.5-inch screen. Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit System is standard, and the top trim gets the fully configurable 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro display.
• Fuel efficiency: AWD lowers the base Tiguan S from 27 to 25 mpg combined, and sporty R-Line models with AWD are rated at 24 mpg combined. The range-topping Tiguan is rated at 24 mpg combined, or 22 city and 29 highway.

Which 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan trim should I buy?

The 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SE, SE R-Line, SEL R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value entry point if you want the Tiguan’s standard safety tech and core powertrain without paying for extras. It’s the least expensive way into the lineup, but it also has the most basic cabin and infotainment setup.
• SE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a power driver’s seat, leatherette upholstery, dual-zone climate control, and a power tailgate. It also opens up more color and equipment choices without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• SE R-Line: This trim adds a panoramic sunroof and a sportier appearance, making it a good fit if you want more style and a richer feature set. It also sits above the SE while still stopping short of the top-trim luxury upgrades.
• SEL R-Line: This is the most upscale choice, with real leather, front-seat ventilation, a heated steering wheel, driver’s seat memory, and a more advanced digital display. It’s the one to choose if you want the most premium Tiguan experience.

Park Distance Control becomes standard at the SE R-Line Black trim level.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing movement to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,420 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.93% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,858, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $24,367 sits slightly below last year's $26,181.

That price movement suggests the Tiguan has softened enough to create a more buyer-friendly entry point today. For a future seller, that can mean less immediate upside if you buy at the current average and try to resell quickly.

The good news is that the model’s standard safety equipment and broad appeal can help support demand over time. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should have a reasonable path to retaining value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan safe?

The Volkswagen Tiguan earned a 2022 Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE suite is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, active blind-spot monitoring with steering intervention, Lane Assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist. The Tiguan also includes rear cross-traffic alert, automatic post-collision braking, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, and automatic emergency braking.

One trim-level note to keep in mind: Park Distance Control becomes standard at the SE R-Line Black trim level. That means lower trims miss out on that feature.

Should I buy a 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.93% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 adds standard IQ.DRIVE safety tech, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping support.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,146, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $24,367 average.
• It feels larger inside and offers a third-row seat.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $30,013, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $24,367 average.
• It updates the design and fixes earlier interface issues.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of price, standard safety tech, and current-market availability, the 2024 is the best all-around choice. If your priority is spending less, the 2023 is the smarter value play; if you want the newer redesign, the 2025 is the better upgrade path.
