Used 2024 Toyota Tundra for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2024 Toyota Tundra cost?

Prices have softened 7.47% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,079 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Toyota Tundra a good car?

Yes — with a 5/5 user rating and a 6.2/10 expert rating, the 2024 Toyota Tundra lands as a solid choice if you want a full-size pickup with personality and capability. The standout strength is Performance at 8/10.

The Tundra stands out as a large, Texas-built full-size pickup that leans into capability and character, and its TRD Pro setup adds ride and handling polish that makes it feel more composed than purely utilitarian. It also offers an open-air driving experience, which gives it a bit of personality that many full-size pickups do not emphasize.

The trade-offs are clear: it still cannot match the towing and payload capacities of the segment leader, and it offers less diversity of configurations than some rivals. The design may be polarizing, and the interior materials feel cheap.

With 38.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Toyota Tundra reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Tundra is framed around Toyota’s reputation for dependability, and the expert review reinforces that theme even while noting that long-term durability for this generation is still being established. The performance write-up also points to a truck that feels well sorted in use, especially in TRD Pro form, where the ride and handling are described as better than any third-generation Tundra driven so far.

Toyota also includes complimentary scheduled maintenance visits to your dealership, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that this generation’s durability story is still developing, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Tundra?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a truck that has seen towing, off-road use, or heavy daily work. Focus on overall condition, cabin wear, and whether the truck’s equipment matches the way you plan to use it.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tundra spans SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, 1794 Limited Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone, with Double Cab and CrewMax body styles and multiple bed lengths. Base-trim buyers should pay close attention to feature gaps, since blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and parking sensors with automatic braking require either an option package on SR5 or a higher trim.
• Powertrain: The standard twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 is paired with a 10-speed automatic, while i-Force Max versions add a hybrid version of that V6 with standard 4WD. The TRD Pro’s hybrid setup is the performance highlight, and it favors capability over fuel economy.
• Safety package: Every 2024 Tundra has Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, which includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, a road-sign recognition system, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and parking sensors with automatic braking are not standard on every trim.
• Infotainment: The TRD Pro has a 14-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. Wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto are standard, and the truck also offers wireless smartphone charging and a surround-view camera.
• Fuel efficiency: The TRD Pro averaged 17.1 mpg in testing, and the EPA figure cited for it is 19 mpg combined.

Which 2024 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota Tundra is offered in 8 trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, 1794 Limited Edition, TRD Pro, and Capstone.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Tundra nameplate at the lowest starting point, but you should expect the fewest features and pay close attention to equipment gaps.
• SR5: This is the trim where the truck starts to make more sense for many shoppers, especially because key safety equipment can be added here with an option package.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it unlocks more of the Tundra’s useful equipment and also brings important safety upgrades.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and more comfort-focused equipment without going all the way to the top trims.
• 1794 Edition: This is for buyers who want a more distinctive, premium-themed truck with added character.
• 1794 Limited Edition: This is the more exclusive version of the 1794 formula, so it suits shoppers who want something rarer and more richly equipped.
• TRD Pro: This is the trim to buy if you want the strongest off-road character, the hybrid i-Force Max powertrain, and the most compelling ride-and-handling setup.
• Capstone: This is the top-end choice if you want the most luxurious presentation in the lineup.

To get blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and parking sensors with automatic braking, you’ll need an option package on SR5 or a Limited trim or higher.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Tundra?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, which gives you room to shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 38.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,079 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.47% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $43,884, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $43,884 sits slightly below last year's $47,425.

That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy more selectively now but may also mean less upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the current trend points to a truck that is still holding meaningful value, but not at the stronger levels seen a year ago.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Toyota Tundra safe?

The 2024 Toyota Tundra earns Top Safety Pick recognition from IIHS, and the Tundra Crew Cab 4WD models earn five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA, with a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2024 Tundra has Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, which includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, a road-sign recognition system, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and parking sensors with automatic braking require an option package on SR5 or a Limited trim or higher.

The main caveat is the IIHS moderate overlap frontal-impact result, where the Tundra earns a Poor rating for rear-seat passenger protection.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 38.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.47% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 stands out for its powerful i-Force Max drivetrain and TRD Pro ride-and-handling polish.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $41,920, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $43,884 average.
• It keeps the redesigned Tundra formula with added SX appearance flair.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $48,165, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $43,884 average.
• It adds more tech and a retro TRD Rally Package.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current pricing, satisfaction, and capability, the 2024 is the primary pick. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2023 is the value path, while the 2025 makes sense if you want the newer tech additions and can spend more.
