CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Toyota Sienna
overall

Summary
With 2,073 currently listed for sale and an average price of $45,019, 34.6% of 2024 Toyota Siennas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Toyota Sienna 4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.
91.4% of 2024 Sienna models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Toyota Sienna stands out as a family minivan that has kept pace with modern expectations while still leaning into practicality. It offers three rows of seating and power sliding doors, and it comes standard as a fuel-sipping hybrid model. Toyota also offers optional all-wheel drive, and the Sienna’s dramatic exterior styling may appeal to shoppers who want something a little more distinctive than the usual minivan shape.
Its biggest strengths are efficiency, comfort, and everyday usefulness. The standard hybrid engine delivers impressive fuel economy, and the Sienna comes standard with plenty of safety features. It is also described as comfy, with a spacious third row that should help make it a strong choice for families. The tradeoffs are worth noting, though: performance is fairly pedestrian, the technology is looking a bit outdated, and the second-row seats cannot be removed.

The hybrid system is excellent, it is rated for 36 mpg, however purchasing the new Sienna from Apex, North Carolina and driving it back to NY, it averaged 45 mpg for more than 500 miles, of course under mild driving.

The vehicle has some nice features but the technology is not keeping up with other automakers. According to some reviews, the line has some issues that the automaker does not take seriously and passes them off as (normal). Specifically the problem with starting the vehicle and braking quirks.

Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Generally — the 2024 Toyota Sienna earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.
The Sienna’s appeal is rooted in practicality: it offers three rows of seating, power sliding doors, and a standard hybrid setup that prioritizes efficiency. It also comes with plenty of safety features and a cabin that’s described as comfy and spacious enough for family duty.
The trade-offs are worth weighing. Performance is fairly pedestrian, and the technology is dated compared with newer systems.
With 35.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The Sienna’s reliability case is helped by its straightforward hybrid setup and its emphasis on everyday usefulness rather than complexity. The expert evaluation also points to strong efficiency and a family-friendly design, both of which tend to support dependable ownership when you keep up with routine maintenance.
Toyota includes two years or 25,000 miles of scheduled maintenance, whichever comes first, which is a useful ownership perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a neglected example could turn its efficiency and comfort advantages into expensive repair headaches.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Sienna?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing higher-mileage examples or trims with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, cabin wear, and whether the tech and driver-assistance features work as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Sienna is offered in LE, XLE, XSE, Woodland Edition, Limited and Platinum trim levels. Base trims come with cloth seats, three-zone climate control, and room for eight, while upper trims add features like Bi-LED projector headlamps, leather-trimmed heated and cooled front seats, and even a built-in vacuum cleaner.
- Powertrain: Every Sienna uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid system with two electric motors and a small battery pack. Front-wheel-drive models produce 245 horsepower, and AWD versions add a rear motor for traction; efficiency is a major strength, while acceleration is described as sluggish.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes lane departure alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, road sign recognition, full-speed adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.
- Infotainment: You get a nine-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a standard Wi-Fi hotspot and SiriusXM satellite radio. The system is older, and the backup camera image is grainy.
- Fuel efficiency: The hybrid powertrain gets an EPA fuel rating of 36 miles per gallon in front-wheel-drive models, with AWD models rated slightly lower.
Which 2024 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?
The 2024 Toyota Sienna is offered in 6 trim levels: LE, XLE, XSE, Woodland Edition, Limited and Platinum.
Here's the short version:
- LE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it gives you the Sienna’s core strengths without pushing the price up. It’s the trim to consider if you want the hybrid efficiency, standard safety tech, and family-friendly basics at the lowest entry cost.
- XLE: This is the trim to look at if you want a more comfortable daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder. It builds on the LE with a more upscale feel while keeping the Sienna’s practical mission intact.
- XSE: This is the best-value trim if you want the Sienna to feel a little more distinctive. It adds the sporty look, and with the optional Premium package it brings captain’s chairs, heated and cooled leather-trimmed front seats, and ADAS controls on the steering wheel.
- Woodland Edition: This is the pick if you want the most adventurous-looking Sienna. It adds roof rails with crossbars, a tow hitch, and half an inch more ground clearance, making it the most outdoorsy choice in the lineup.
- Limited: This is the better choice if you want more comfort and convenience features without going all the way to the top. It suits shoppers who want a more premium family hauler.
- Platinum: This is the top-end choice for shoppers who want the most equipment and are willing to pay for it. It makes the most sense if you want the most upscale version of the Sienna.
Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the lineup, and blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard too.

- Inventory: There are 2,080 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.02% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 91.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $39,947, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $44,968 sits slightly below last year's $46,371.
That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market momentum.
The Sienna’s efficiency, standard safety features, and family-friendly layout should help keep it appealing to used buyers. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna safe?
The 2024 Toyota Sienna earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash protection from NHTSA. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives it a Good rating in crashworthiness and seat belt and child restraint systems.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes lane departure alert, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, road sign recognition, full-speed adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.
One caveat is that front crash prevention is rated Average by IIHS, so you should still treat driver-assistance tech as a supplement rather than a substitute for attentive driving.
Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.02% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It combines standard hybrid efficiency with three rows, power sliding doors, and plenty of safety features.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $41,904, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $44,968 average.
- It emphasizes standard hybrid efficiency and family practicality.
Consider the 2025 if:
- At $47,211, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $44,968 average.
- It adds easier family usability and available AWD with light off-road capability.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, efficiency, and family usefulness, the 2024 is the primary target. If your budget is tighter, the 2023 is the smarter value play; if you want to spend more for the newer-year alternative, the 2025 is worth a look.
