CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser
overall

Summary
With 935 currently listed for sale and an average price of $61,201.00, 37.1% of 2024 Toyota Land Cruisers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.
96.6% of 2024 Land Cruiser models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser stands out as the return of Toyota’s original SUV to the United States, and it arrives as an all-new model. It shares a platform with the Lexus GX, but Toyota positions it squarely in its own midsize-SUV segment. That combination of heritage and a fresh redesign gives it a distinctive place in the market, especially for buyers drawn to a nameplate with a long reputation.
What makes the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser appealing is the way it blends retro styling with strong off-road capability and modern comfort and convenience. The test-drive data also describes it as comfortable, which broadens its appeal beyond trail-focused shoppers. At the same time, it is not without tradeoffs: there is no option for a third row, and it is more expensive than competitors. Toyota’s reliance on the Land Cruiser name also appears to be part of the value proposition, which may matter to buyers weighing the price against the changes made to the model’s traditional formula.

The Land Cruiser lives up to all of my expectations, the interior was very comfortable, the instrumentation and obvious technology was impressive ; most impressive was the performance. The handling was comparable to Our Lexus RX450hL.

Very smooth ride. Gas mileage not horrible but not the 25mi as listed. I get about 21 on hwy if I “take it easy” on the gas pedal. I love the look. I put 20in wheels with large 285 tires. Looks Great!

How much does the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $61,055 |
| Year-Round Low | $61,076.45 |
| Year-Round High | $64,312.47 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $64,307 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −5.06% |
Prices have softened 5.06% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 944 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.
If you find a listing below $61,076.45, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.
The overview points to a vehicle that blends retro styling with strong off-road capability and modern comfort and convenience, while the expert drive notes that it is comfortable as well as capable. That makes it a strong fit if you want a midsize SUV with heritage appeal and real trail ability.
The main trade-offs are that there is no option for a third row and it is more expensive than competitors. Those drawbacks matter most if you need maximum passenger flexibility or you are comparing it strictly on price.
With 30.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The overview emphasizes the Land Cruiser name’s long reputation, and the expert summary reinforces that this redesign keeps the model’s identity centered on capability and heritage. The powertrain is a hybrid setup, and the expert notes it uses a turbocharged engine with electric support rather than relying on a larger-cylinder layout.
The performance writeup also points to standard full-time 4WD, locking differentials, and a low-range transfer case, all of which support durability-minded use in demanding conditions. Toyota’s first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps lower early ownership friction.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is paying a premium for a vehicle whose appeal depends heavily on whether you value its off-road focus and nameplate enough to justify the cost.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the vehicle has seen trail use or towing. Focus on underbody condition, wheel and tire wear, and signs of hard use in the cabin and cargo area. Because this model is built around capability, condition matters as much as mileage.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base 1958 trim uses cloth seats and the base infotainment setup, while the middle trim upgrades to SofTex seating and a larger sound system. The top trim adds real leather, unique trim-specific logos, a roof rack, a front skid plate, and mudflaps, so the lower trim is the one most likely to feel stripped down.
- Powertrain: The Land Cruiser uses Toyota’s i-Force MAX hybrid powertrain with a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 1.87-kWh battery pack, and a 48-hp electric motor for 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. It pairs with an eight-speed automatic and standard full-time 4WD, and the hybrid setup is described as a move away from the old V8 formula.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert, lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, road-sign assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. The Premium Package adds lane-keep assist, front cross-traffic alert, and traffic jam assist to the middle trim, while those features are standard on the First Edition.
- Infotainment: The base setup uses an 8-inch center display and a six-speaker sound system. Higher trims get a 12.3-inch center touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and USB-C ports front and rear, while the Premium Package adds a head-up display and a digital rear-view mirror.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 23 mpg combined.
Which 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser trim should I buy?
The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is offered in 3 trim levels: 1958, Land Cruiser, First Edition.
Here's the short version:
- 1958: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Land Cruiser formula with cloth seats, the base infotainment system, and the core hybrid 4WD hardware. It makes sense if you want the nameplate and capability at the lowest starting price, but it is the trim most likely to feel basic.
- Land Cruiser: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds SofTex seating, the larger 10-speaker sound system, available 20-inch wheels, and the Multi-Terrain Monitor standard on this trim and above. It also unlocks the Premium Package, which adds a moonroof, ventilated front seats, a head-up display, and a digital rear-view mirror.
- First Edition: This is the most fully equipped version, with real leather, trim-specific logos, standard Multi-Terrain Monitor, standard front sway-bar disconnect, and extra off-road gear like a roof rack, front skid plate, and mudflaps. It also gets the Premium Package content and the most complete safety package.
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard across the lineup, while the Premium Package adds extra driver-assistance features to the middle trim and standardizes them on the First Edition.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep discounts everywhere.
- Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 944 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.06% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 96.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $61,076.45, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser's resale value?
The current average of $61,055 sits slightly below last year's $64,307.
That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward from where it was a year ago, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, trim, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.
Because this model still carries strong brand heritage and broad appeal among buyers who want capability and comfort, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than more ordinary SUVs. The current pricing trend, though, shows that you should not expect appreciation in the near term.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser safe?
The 2024 Land Cruiser has not been rated by IIHS or NHTSA.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert, lane-tracing assist, automatic high beams, road-sign assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. The Premium Package adds lane-keep assist, front cross-traffic alert, and traffic jam assist to the middle trim, while those features are standard on the First Edition.
The main caveat is that there are no crash-test results yet, so you are relying on Toyota’s standard safety suite and the brand’s track record rather than published test scores.
Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.06% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2024 brings the all-new U.S.-market redesign, retro styling, and strong off-road capability.
Consider the 2025 if:
- At $62,321, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $61,055 average.
- It is almost unchanged, but the powertrain is described as better at supplying power than efficiency.
The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Land Cruiser at a slightly better market price, the 2024 is the smarter buy. If you are comparing only on model-year freshness and do not mind paying more, the 2025 is a reasonable alternative, but it does not appear to bring a major enough change to outweigh the 2024’s lower average price.
