Used 2024 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearSugar Land, TX

How much does the 2024 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices are up 7.94% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 3,896 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4.17/5 user rating and a 4.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 6/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, power, and aesthetics, and they also call out the improved ride quality along with features like heated seats and blind spot monitoring. The 4Runner’s rugged, off-road-focused setup and plenty of cargo space make it especially appealing if you value utility and adventure-ready packaging.

The trade-offs are clear: it trails newer rivals in technology, safety features, fuel efficiency, and power, and the driving experience is held back by poor handling and sluggish performance. If you want a tough SUV that prioritizes utility over polish, it fits that brief; if you want a more modern daily driver, the age of the platform will stand out quickly. Good and great deals account for 36.6% of listings, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.17/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, durability, and a trouble-free feel as part of the appeal, with buyers also describing it as something they can count on over time. The expert assessment reinforces that dependability theme by calling out its strong reputation for reliability and durability.

On the ownership side, the 4Runner’s simple, proven formula can be reassuring if you want a used SUV that’s built around long-term use rather than cutting-edge complexity. For used buyers, the main risk is that age-related wear and deferred maintenance can matter more than the badge itself, so condition and service history deserve close attention.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota 4Runner?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially because this model’s age means condition can vary a lot from one example to the next. Focus on signs of hard use, since many 4Runners are bought for adventure duty and may have seen more demanding service than a typical family SUV. Pay extra attention to how the truck drives on pavement, because the 4Runner’s road manners and wear patterns can tell you a lot about how it’s been treated.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The range-topping TRD Pro adds underbody skid plates, all-terrain tires, and a beefy tubular roof rack, while the interior still reflects the model’s older design and last-generation technology. The base trim is more straightforward, so you should expect fewer of the rugged visual and hardware upgrades that make the upper trims feel more adventure-focused.
• Powertrain: Every 2024 4Runner uses a 4.0-liter V6 with 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque. The five-speed automatic is a weak point, and most trims are rear-wheel drive with four-wheel drive available, while the TRD Pro comes standard with 4WD and a two-speed transfer case.
• Safety package: The standard suite includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert. The TRD Pro and Limited add a surround-view camera system, and only the Limited gets front and rear parking proximity sensors.
• Infotainment: You get an eight-inch touchscreen with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system does not include the off-road-specific apps and gauges found in some rivals, and the screen size is modest by current standards.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA ratings come in at 16 mpg city, 19 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined, which is a clear weakness if you drive a lot.

Which 2024 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 1 trim level: SR5.

Here's the short version:

The SR5 is the trim to focus on if you want the 4Runner’s core ruggedness without paying for the upper-trim extras. It gives you the same basic V6 powertrain and the same old-school 4Runner character, so the decision mostly comes down to whether you want to spend more for added off-road hardware and convenience features. If you want the best value, the SR5 is the trim that keeps the price closest to the model’s core mission.

The safety package expands on higher trims, with the TRD Pro and Limited adding a surround-view camera system, and the Limited also getting front and rear parking proximity sensors.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota 4Runner?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,896 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 7.94% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 91.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $40,830, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $47,015 sits slightly above last year's $43,557.

That upward move suggests the market still places meaningful value on this model year, even with its age and shortcomings. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, the 4Runner’s reputation for durability can help support demand later. The current pricing also shows that shoppers are still willing to pay for its rugged identity and utility.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.17/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2024 Toyota 4Runner earns four-star ratings for overall and frontal crash protection, five-star ratings in side impacts, and three-star ratings in rollover evaluations from NHTSA. IIHS gives it a Good result for the original moderate frontal overlap crash test and side protection tests, but the newer small overlap frontal test includes Marginal and Poor results.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard driver-assistance suite includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert. The TRD Pro and Limited trims add a surround-view camera system, while only the Limited gets front and rear parking proximity sensors.

The mixed crash-test results are the main caveat here, especially the weaker small-overlap frontal performance. If safety is a top priority, you should weigh those results carefully against the 4Runner’s other strengths.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices are up 7.94% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.17/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 keeps the familiar rugged formula while still offering strong off-road capability and plenty of cargo space.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $43,936, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $47,015 average.
• It adds standard blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $49,450, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $47,015 average.
• It brings more capability, power, comfort, and technology.

The bottom line: If you want the familiar 4Runner formula and can find a well-priced example, the 2024 is the straightforward choice. If price matters most, the 2023 is the better value play. If you’d rather wait for a more modern take on the nameplate, the 2025 is the stronger long-term direction.
