Is the 2024 Subaru Legacy reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview highlights the Legacy’s long-running reputation for safety and comfort, plus a standard all-wheel-drive setup that is part of the car’s core identity. It also points to a quieter cabin, a stiffer chassis, and a more refined ride, all of which can matter when you plan to keep a car for years. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the concept and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by heavy use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Legacy?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully so you can confirm the car’s background and spot any prior damage or title issues. Put the inspection focus on overall condition, especially signs of wear that could affect comfort, ride quality, or cabin refinement. Since the Legacy’s appeal is tied to its practical, everyday character, you’ll want to make sure the specific car you choose matches that promise.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Legacy?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop around and enough price softness to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,088 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.28% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,748, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Legacy's resale value?

The current average of $24,841 sits slightly below last year's $25,683.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the softer trend means you should pay close attention to purchase price and condition, because both will matter when it comes time to trade in or list the car. A well-kept example should still benefit from the model’s practical appeal and standard AWD identity.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the right pick if you want the Legacy’s standard AWD formula with a refined cabin, a comfortable ride, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also use the softer pricing to compare nearby model years and focus on the best-maintained example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
