Why it stands out
The 2024 Hyundai Tucson stands out as a well-rounded compact SUV that blends a lot of what modern shoppers want into an athletic, contemporary package. It is described as a good value, with good passenger and cargo space, refined cabin styling, and an attractive price tag. The Tucson also packs tons of safety features, which adds to its appeal for buyers looking for a practical small SUV that feels thoughtfully equipped.
Its strengths are balanced by a few drawbacks. The turbocharged powertrain is called energetic, but the overall powertrain is also described as disappointing, so performance may not be its strongest suit. The infotainment system can be frustrating, and the shifter controls in Limited models have a learning curve. Even so, the Tucson’s combination of space, tech, safety, and value makes it a compelling choice for shoppers who want an SUV that covers a lot of ground without trying to be overly specialized.

The car has great features, I wish it had more compartments. It needs somewhere to put your sunglasses. I also drove the Santa fe. It was really nice but also so much more now with the upgraded body.

I love the features of this car. It has everything I want and more. I love the sleek design. It’s a great price for its value. I’ve had no issues so far. The only complaint I have is the visor lighting is very poor, but that’s a very minor complaint.

How much does the 2024 Hyundai Tucson cost?

| Year-Round Low | $21,541 |
| Year-Round High | $24,052 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $24,052 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −1.79% |
Prices have softened 1.79% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 7,647 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for used shoppers.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Hyundai Tucson earns a 4.6/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise its great features, sleek design, and value for money, and many also like the spacious interior and modern technology. That lines up with the Tucson’s role as a well-rounded compact SUV that emphasizes passenger space, cargo room, and a refined cabin.
The trade-offs are that the infotainment system can be frustrating and the powertrain is disappointing relative to the rest of the package. Even so, if you want a practical small SUV that covers space, tech, safety, and value without chasing a niche personality, the Tucson fits that brief well.
35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding a strong-value example.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that feels great, modern, and value-focused, with many shoppers appreciating the spacious interior and modern technology. That kind of response usually matters for used buyers because it suggests the Tucson is the sort of SUV people can live with every day and feel good about over time.
From an expert perspective, the Tucson is described as well-rounded, comfortable, and spacious, with a driving experience that blends ride comfort and precise steering. Hyundai also backs it with a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, which is a meaningful ownership perk if you’re comparing long-term cost exposure.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about one glaring flaw and more about making sure you choose a well-kept example, since the model’s appeal depends on its features and electronics working as intended.
What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Hyundai Tucson?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin electronics, driver-assistance features, and any trim-specific equipment, since the Tucson’s appeal depends heavily on its tech and convenience content. It’s also smart to focus on overall condition and how well the vehicle’s features operate, especially if you’re shopping a higher trim.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE starts with 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, two USB ports, remote keyless entry, a manually adjustable driver’s seat, HD radio, power windows, and an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. The SEL adds push-button start, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, and two more USB ports. The XRT adds unique black 19-inch alloy wheels, side steps, dark exterior trim, functional roof racks, and features from the SEL Convenience Package. The Limited adds dark chrome grille treatment, upgraded headlights, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, genuine leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, an upgraded Bose premium stereo system, and memory settings for the driver’s seat.
- Powertrain: The Tucson uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. The setup is described as fine around town, but it can feel strained when merging or passing.
- Safety package: Standard driver assistance includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, driver attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Limited adds front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera system, Smart Park remote-parking, and a blind-spot camera system.
- Infotainment: The base system uses an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. SEL Convenience Package, XRT, and Limited trims move to a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a fully digital instrument panel, but they lose wireless phone connectivity.
- Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive model returns 25 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined. The all-wheel-drive model returns 23 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined.
Which 2024 Hyundai Tucson trim should I buy?
The 2024 Hyundai Tucson is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, XRT, and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the value play if you want the Tucson’s core strengths without stretching your budget. You get the standard 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, plus the full standard safety suite, so it covers the essentials well.
- SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds push-button start, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, and extra USB ports without jumping all the way to the pricier trims.
- XRT: Choose this if you want the Tucson’s more rugged-looking appearance and the added convenience-package equipment, including synthetic leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a fully digital instrument panel, and the larger touchscreen.
- Limited: This is the most upscale choice, with ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, genuine leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose premium stereo, memory settings, and the most advanced parking and blind-spot camera features.
The safety package is broad across the lineup, but the Limited is the trim that adds the most advanced parking and visibility tech.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Hyundai Tucson?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and still find a decent deal.
- Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 7,647 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.79% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 89.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,541, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson's resale value?
The current average of $23,620 sits slightly below last year's $24,052.
That price movement suggests the Tucson has softened a bit, which can help you as a buyer now but may mean a seller needs to price competitively later. The current range also shows that values are still holding in a fairly tight band, which is a sign of a market that has not fallen apart.
For a future seller, that means condition, mileage, and trim will matter a lot when it’s time to list. Well-equipped examples with strong presentation should still attract attention, especially because the Tucson’s feature set and value story remain central to its appeal.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2024 Hyundai Tucson safe?
The 2024 Tucson earns Good ratings in most phases of IIHS crash testing and a Top Safety Pick+ designation on the prior model year it carries over from. It also earns five-star ratings in a frontal crash test and four-star ratings in a rollover test from NHTSA.
It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.
A long list of standard driver-assistance features comes on every Tucson, including automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, driver attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Limited trim adds front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree parking camera system, Smart Park remote-parking, and a blind-spot camera system.
One caveat is that the standard headlights earn a less favorable Acceptable IIHS result, even though the rest of the safety story is strong.
Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Tucson or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.79% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2024 model is presented as a well-rounded compact SUV with strong safety, space, and value.
The bottom line: If you want the Tucson’s current mix of value, safety, and everyday usability, the 2024 is the straightforward pick. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also use the softened market and broad inventory to shop carefully for the best-equipped example within your budget.
