Is the 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 5/5 user-rated car with an expert rating of 7.7/10. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.

The 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback stands out because it brings together quality, fun, safety, utility, and affordability in one compact package. It is also the version of the Civic that adds significant utility and an available manual transmission, which helps give it a more engaging character than many small cars. For buyers who want a car that can be enjoyable to drive without making the monthly payment feel punishing, that combination is a major part of its appeal.

The main trade-offs are that all-wheel drive is not available and blind-spot warning is reserved for expensive trims. Even so, the hatchback body style, available turbocharged engine, and strong safety ratings make it a well-rounded choice if you want a practical compact car with a lively driving feel.

With 37.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback is presented as a practical, safe, and affordable compact car, and the expert review also highlights its refined driver-assistance tech and strong overall execution. The available turbocharged engine and the hatchback’s utility add to its everyday appeal, while the model’s strong safety results support confidence in daily use.

The expert review also notes that Honda Sensing is refined, sophisticated, and accurate, which is a good sign for day-to-day dependability of the car’s core safety systems. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and doesn’t show signs of the issues that can affect this generation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing, especially if you’re shopping for a higher-mileage example or one with a sportier setup. Focus on overall condition, because the best used Civic Hatchbacks should feel tight, well-kept, and consistent with the model’s reputation for polish.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX, value-oriented Sport, and upscale EX-L all use the basic 7-inch digital instrumentation panel and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while the Sport Touring adds a 10.2-inch digital instrumentation display and a 9-inch touchscreen. Blind-spot warning is reserved for the more expensive EX-L and Sport Touring trims, and rear cross-traffic alert plus front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking are only on Sport Touring.
• Powertrain: LX and Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque, while EX-L and Sport Touring get the turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 180 hp and 177 lb-ft. The Sport trim can be paired with a six-speed manual, and the CVT adds a Sport driving mode and paddle shifters.
• Safety package: Every model gets Honda Sensing, which includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist and low-speed follow capability with the CVT, automatic high-beam headlights, driver monitoring, and traffic sign recognition. Blind-spot warning is limited to EX-L and Sport Touring, and rear cross-traffic alert plus parking sensors are exclusive to Sport Touring.
• Infotainment: LX, Sport, and EX-L use a 7-inch touchscreen, while Sport Touring gets a 9-inch touchscreen plus a 10.2-inch digital instrumentation display. Sport Touring also adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, and a 12-speaker Bose sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The hatchback returns between 29 mpg and 35 mpg in combined driving, depending on trim and configuration.

Which 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback trim should I buy?

The 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, Sport Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Civic Hatchback experience with the 2.0-liter engine and the basic 7-inch tech setup. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup and don’t need the extra convenience features.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it keeps the same core powertrain but adds the option of a six-speed manual, which gives the car a more engaging character. If you want the most affordable trim with a little more personality, this is the one to look at.
• EX-L: This is the trim to choose if you want the turbocharged 1.5-liter engine and a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top. It adds more power and better everyday flexibility, but it still uses the smaller 7-inch tech setup.
• Sport Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with the 9-inch touchscreen, 10.2-inch digital display, wireless smartphone integration, navigation, Bose audio, and the most complete safety and convenience content. It’s the right pick if you want the most polished Civic Hatchback experience.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot warning is limited to the EX-L and Sport Touring, and the rear cross-traffic alert plus parking sensors are exclusive to Sport Touring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback?

The market looks moderate and selective, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,328 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,439, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback's resale value?

The current average of $25,261 sits slightly below last year's $25,379.

That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable rather than volatile, which is usually helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady price pattern can make it easier to estimate what your car may be worth down the road, especially if you keep mileage and condition in check.

The Civic Hatchback’s broad appeal also helps support future demand, since shoppers tend to value its mix of practicality, safety, and driving enjoyment. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback safe?

The 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback earns Good ratings in nearly all assessments performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), with an Acceptable rating in a new updated side-impact test. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives it an overall crashworthiness rating of five stars, and it also earned a rare five-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist and low-speed follow capability with the CVT, automatic high-beam headlights, driver monitoring, and traffic sign recognition. Blind-spot warning is limited to the more expensive EX-L and Sport Touring trims, while rear cross-traffic alert and front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking are only on Sport Touring.

The main caveat is that the updated side-impact result is not as strong as the rest of the crash-test record, and some of the most useful driver-assistance features are reserved for higher trims.

Should I buy a 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback or consider a different year?

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert review says the hatchback adds significant utility and an available manual transmission, which gives it a more engaging character than many small cars.

The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want a well-rounded hatchback with strong safety, good utility, and a lively driving feel. If you’re more price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and focus on lower-mileage, accident-free examples near the low end of the market range.
