How much does the 2024 Ford Mustang cost?

Prices have softened 1.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,019 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Ford Mustang earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its performance, driving experience, speed, handling, and the sound of the engine. The updated technology also comes up often as a strength, along with comfort and features in higher trims.

The trade-offs are familiar for a pony car: the back seat is cramped, cargo space is limited, and the car can be noisy. Even so, the Mustang’s appeal is strongest if you want fun on a budget, since it pairs strong performance with great handling and excellent value for money.

Good and great deals account for 32.5% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on performance that stays engaging over time, plus the kind of driving experience people can count on for enjoyment. The expert evaluation also describes the Mustang as approachable and easy to drive, which supports the idea that it should be a straightforward car to live with.

The available maintenance and ownership details also point to a car that is built for regular use rather than constant attention. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic satisfaction and more about choosing a well-kept example that has been maintained consistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Ford Mustang?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a performance car like this, because you want to confirm that the drivetrain, brakes, tires, and electronics all match the seller’s description. Focus on overall condition, since the Mustang’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been cared for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin gets a much more modern look, with a glass panel that encloses the digital instrument panel and infotainment touchscreen, while the base setup uses two separate screens and Premium models place them in a single enclosure. The interior materials are improved too, with fewer hard plastics and a more upmarket feel.
• Powertrain: The entry engine is a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 315 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive. The GT’s 5.0-liter V8 is the stronger enthusiast choice, and the Dark Horse sits at the top of the range with 500 hp.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are available as options.
• Infotainment: All models get a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, Amazon Alexa integration is included, and a Wi-Fi hotspot comes on all models. A native navigation system and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system are optional.
• Fuel efficiency: The EcoBoost is rated at 22 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined. The GT with the automatic is rated at 15 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 18 mpg combined, while the manual drops fuel economy by 1 mpg across the board.

Which 2024 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2024 Ford Mustang is offered in 3 trim levels: EcoBoost, GT, and Dark Horse.

Here's the short version:

• EcoBoost: This is the best-value choice if you want the Mustang experience at the lowest entry price. You still get 315 horsepower, rear-wheel drive, the 13.2-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the same core safety equipment as the rest of the lineup. If you want the strongest mix of price, efficiency, and everyday usability, this is the trim to start with.
• GT: This is the trim to buy if you want the classic muscle-car feel. The 5.0-liter V8 brings a much more inspiring powertrain, and the manual transmission is standard here. It’s the right pick if performance matters more to you than fuel economy.
• Dark Horse: This is the top performance choice, with 500 hp and additional performance enhancements. It makes the most sense if you want the most serious Mustang in the lineup and are willing to pay for it.

Standard safety equipment is shared across the lineup, while adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Ford Mustang?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,019 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.34% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,894, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $38,016 sits slightly below last year's $38,533.

That modest decline suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may also mean future resale gains are likely to be gradual rather than dramatic. If you plan to sell later, the key will be keeping the car in strong condition and avoiding examples with a rough history or heavy wear.

Because the Mustang continues to attract strong interest from shoppers, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than less desirable sports cars. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2024 Ford Mustang earns Good ratings from IIHS testing and five-star ratings across the board from NHTSA in the prior-generation evaluations referenced here.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high beams. Adaptive cruise control and a safe passenger exit warning are available as options.

The main caveat is that crash test results for this model year are not yet available, so you should lean on the prior-generation results and the standard safety equipment when evaluating it.

Should I buy a 2024 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 model stands out as the last remaining muscle car, with major interior and technology upgrades that make it feel more modern than a simple nostalgia play.

The bottom line: If you want the most current version of the Mustang formula, the 2024 is the one to target because it combines strong performance, updated tech, and a market that still offers decent deal availability. If you’re mainly chasing the lowest possible price, a nearby model year may save you money, but the 2024 is the better pick if you want the freshest cabin and the strongest all-around appeal.
