It stands out as a stylish, fuel-efficient midsize SUV alternative, with a sharp exterior and a luxury-leaning interior that give it a more upscale feel than many rivals. Is the 2023 Toyota Venza reliable?

The Venza’s hybrid setup is described as smooth and seamless, with electric motors providing immediate response and the gasoline engine blending in without drama. Its ride is also tuned for comfort, which supports an easygoing ownership experience.

The fuel-saving hybrid system and calm driving character should help it feel dependable over time, especially if you prioritize efficiency and refinement. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a small cargo area and modest performance may limit how well it fits your needs as they change.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Venza?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple listings. Focus on overall condition, since the Venza’s appeal depends heavily on how well the cabin, tech, and hybrid system have been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LE trim uses an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, while the XLE and above get a much larger 12.3-inch display. The cabin is described as more upscale than many rivals, and the midrange XLE adds features that make it the sweet spot for many shoppers.
• Powertrain: The Venza uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid system with electric motor/generators and a nickel metal hydride battery pack. It produces 219 horsepower and is tuned for smooth, efficient driving rather than sporty acceleration.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure assist, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader. Midrange and higher trims add more parking and camera features.
• Infotainment: Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with a wireless charging pad. The base trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen, while XLE and above upgrade to a 12.3-inch multimedia display with sharper graphics and quicker responses.
• Fuel efficiency: It is estimated to return 40 mpg in the city, 37 mpg on the highway, and 39 mpg combined.

Which 2023 Toyota Venza trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Venza is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Venza’s core strengths: the hybrid powertrain, standard all-wheel drive, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+. It makes sense if you want the most affordable way into the model, but you give up the larger screen and some comfort upgrades.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers. It adds the 12.3-inch touchscreen, roof rails, heated front seats, simulated leather upholstery, and a few safety enhancements for a reasonable step up in price.
• Limited: This is the most feature-rich version, adding a surround-view camera system, a head-up display, and a digital rearview mirror. It suits you best if you want the most upscale Venza experience and don’t mind paying more for it.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard across the lineup, while the midrange XLE adds parking sensors and reverse automatic emergency braking.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 685 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,386, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Venza's resale value?

The current average of $33,109 sits slightly above last year's $32,905.

That small increase suggests the Venza has held value fairly well in the near term. For a future seller, that kind of stability can be helpful because it points to steady buyer interest rather than a sharply weakening market.

Its strong fuel economy and upscale feel should continue to support demand among shoppers who want efficiency without giving up comfort. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota Venza safe?

The 2023 Toyota Venza earns five-star ratings in overall and side crash protection, and four-star ratings in frontal and rollover protection from NHTSA. The IIHS awarded it Good scores across the board except for the new side impact test, where it earned Acceptable, and it was named a Top Safety Pick.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure assist, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader. Higher trims add parking sensors, reverse automatic emergency braking, a surround-view camera system, a head-up display, and a digital rearview mirror.

The main caveat is the IIHS side-impact result, which trails the Venza’s otherwise strong crash-test performance.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Venza or consider a different year?

• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines sharp styling, a luxury-leaning interior, and class-leading fuel economy.

Consider the 2022 if:

• It blends wagon-like proportions with standard AWD and strong efficiency.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced shopping target, the 2023 is the safer pick because it offers stable pricing, strong efficiency, and a well-rounded feature set. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2022 is worth a look, especially if you can find one in good condition with the equipment you want.
