Used 2023 Mazda CX-50 for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2023 Mazda CX-50 cost?

Prices have softened 6.76% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,070 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-50 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Mazda CX-50 earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, quality interior, and good performance, especially with the turbo engine. The CX-50 also appeals if you want a crossover that feels more engaging to drive than many rivals.

The trade-offs are clear: the cargo area is still described as lacking storage space, the infotainment system can be frustrating, and the value proposition is not especially strong. If you want a compact crossover that blends everyday usefulness with a more active-lifestyle personality, this one fits that brief well.

Good and great deals account for 39.5% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-50 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with owners highlighting good performance and a vehicle they feel good about living with over time. The expert review also notes that the turbo powertrain delivers smooth acceleration and that the improved powertrain cooling should support reliable towing capability.

Mazda also includes a generous standard package of driver assistance systems, which can help reduce day-to-day ownership stress. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about choosing the right trim and condition, since some versions are better equipped and more satisfying than others.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mazda CX-50?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on overall condition, because the CX-50’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and whether the cabin and tech still feel fresh.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 2.5 S has the 187-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an 8.8-inch display, while other trims get a larger 10.25-inch display. The top Premium Plus trim adds the most advanced safety equipment, including surround-view camera coverage and parking sensors.
• Powertrain: The 2.5 S uses a 187 hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder with a six-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, while the 2.5 Turbo adds stronger acceleration and a towing increase from 2,000 pounds to 3,500 pounds.
• Safety package: Mazda’s driver-assistance suite is standard across the lineup, with Traffic Jam Assist, active blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors with reverse automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system reserved for the most expensive trim.
• Infotainment: Every CX-50 gets Mazda Connect with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and Mazda Connected Services. The base trim has an 8.8-inch display, while other trims use a 10.25-inch screen.
• Fuel efficiency: Mazda predicts 27 mpg in combined driving for the base engine and 25 mpg in combined driving for the turbo model, while the turbo test vehicle averaged 23.4 mpg.

Which 2023 Mazda CX-50 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Mazda CX-50 is offered in 10 trim levels: 2.5 S, 2.5 S Select, 2.5 S Preferred, 2.5 S Premium, 2.5 S Premium Plus, 2.5 S Meridian Edition, 2.5 Turbo, 2.5 Turbo Premium, 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus, 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition.

Here's the short version:

• 2.5 S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core CX-50 experience with the standard engine, all-wheel drive, wireless smartphone integration, and the full safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and do not need the extra power or premium features.
• 2.5 S Select: This trim is the better starting point if you want a more satisfying everyday setup than the base model, while still staying on the affordable side of the lineup.
• 2.5 S Preferred: This is a strong value choice if you want a more upscale feel without jumping into the pricier turbo models.
• 2.5 S Premium: Choose this if you want a more polished feature set and are willing to pay for a nicer daily driving experience.
• 2.5 S Premium Plus: This is the best choice if you want the most complete non-turbo CX-50, especially because the most advanced safety features are concentrated here.
• 2.5 S Meridian Edition: Pick this if you want the more rugged appearance and adventure-oriented extras, including all-terrain tires and a roof-mounted load platform.
• 2.5 Turbo: This is the right move if you care most about stronger acceleration and towing ability.
• 2.5 Turbo Premium: This trim adds more comfort and equipment while keeping the stronger turbo powertrain.
• 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus: This is the most fully equipped CX-50 and the best fit if you want the most advanced safety and convenience features.
• 2.5 Turbo Meridian Edition: Choose this if you want the turbo powertrain with the adventure-focused look and equipment.

The safety package is standard on most of the lineup, but the most advanced features are limited to the Premium Plus trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mazda CX-50?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 39.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,070 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.76% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,469, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Mazda CX-50's resale value?

The current average of $25,469 sits slightly below last year's $27,317.

That softer pricing suggests the CX-50 has already moved into a more buyer-friendly part of its depreciation curve. For a future seller, that can mean less upside than a newer or more in-demand model, especially if the market stays competitive.

Still, the CX-50’s strong styling and owner satisfaction should help it remain appealing to used shoppers. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment are likely to hold attention better than bare-bones or heavily worn ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Mazda CX-50 safe?

The 2023 Mazda CX-50 earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda gives the CX-50 a generous standard driver-assistance package, and the most advanced features are concentrated on the top trim. Those include Traffic Jam Assist, active blind-spot monitoring, front and rear parking sensors with reverse automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.

One caveat is that the expert review notes a missed response from adaptive cruise control in heavier traffic, so you should test the system carefully on your own drive. The review also notes that the most useful parking and camera features are not available on every trim.

Should I buy a 2023 Mazda CX-50 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 39.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.76% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It launches the CX-50 as a stylish, active-lifestyle crossover with standard advanced safety features.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $27,328, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $25,469 average.
• It adds a more rugged, outdoorsy focus with standard all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2023 is the smarter buy because prices are softer and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year with a slightly more rugged positioning, the 2024 is worth a look.
