How much does the 2023 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 970 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices.

Is the 2023 Toyota Prius a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Toyota Prius earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

The 2023 Prius stands out for its sleek new styling, stronger power, and impressive standard safety equipment. It also brings a reasonable suite of interior tech and comfort features, making it a more complete hybrid than earlier versions.

The trade-offs are real: the price is up significantly versus the previous model, the engine can drone loudly when pushed hard, and interior space and cargo room have decreased.

With 31.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Prius is presented as a proven hybrid with a strong reputation for efficiency and everyday practicality. Its powertrain is described as more athletic and eager than before, while still preserving the fuel-sipping character that made the Prius famous.

The performance notes also point to a comfortable, engaging daily-driver feel, with good isolation from road and wind noise except when you push hard. Toyota’s hybrid system and standard safety equipment add to the sense that this is built for steady, low-stress ownership.

If you buy used, the main long-term risk is paying a premium for a car whose higher price only makes sense if condition and maintenance history are strong.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Prius?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a hybrid where condition and maintenance matter. Focus on signs of wear in the cabin, cargo area, and drivetrain, since the model’s value depends heavily on getting a clean example.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LE starts with the essentials, while the XLE adds 19-inch wheels, faux leather seats, a power driver’s seat, wireless smartphone charging, front and rear parking sensors, and a smart key. The Limited adds a larger screen, a JBL sound system, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a power tailgate, and Digital Key.
• Powertrain: The 2023 Prius uses a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a more powerful electric motor and lithium-ion battery. Front-wheel-drive models make 194 total horsepower, while all-wheel-drive models make 196 total horsepower.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard on all trims and includes radar-based adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-departure alerts with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts is also included, and Advanced Park is available on the Limited.
• Infotainment: The LE and XLE come with an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The XLE can be optioned with a 12.3-inch screen, and that larger display is standard on the Limited.
• Fuel efficiency: AWD adds another $1,400 across the lineup, and the hybrid setup is tuned to preserve the Prius’ fuel-sipping character.

Which 2023 Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Prius is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point and gives you the core Prius experience with standard safety gear, an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and 17-inch alloy wheels. It is the most affordable way into the model, but it skips the nicer comfort and convenience upgrades found higher up.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for most buyers because it adds 19-inch wheels, faux leather seats, a power driver’s seat, wireless smartphone charging, front and rear parking sensors, and a smart key. If you want the most balanced mix of equipment and price, this is the one to target.
• Limited: This is the fully loaded choice, adding the larger screen, JBL audio, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a power tailgate, and Digital Key. It suits you best if you want the most comfort and tech and are willing to pay for it.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard on all trims, and Advanced Park is available on the Limited.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find decent opportunities.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 970 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 83.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,061, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $27,704 sits slightly below last year's $27,862.

That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable rather than volatile. For a future seller, that can be a good sign because it points to predictable demand instead of a sharp drop in value.

The Prius also benefits from strong buyer interest tied to efficiency, style, and standard safety equipment. If your car stays clean, well maintained, and accident-free, it should remain easier to move than a less desirable hybrid.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota Prius safe?

The 2023 Prius has Toyota’s latest suite of active safety features bundled together as Toyota Safety Sense 3.0.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

That suite includes radar-based adaptive cruise control that works at any speed, pre-collision braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-departure alerts with steering assist, lane-tracing assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. Those driver-assistance features are standard on all trims, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts is also included.

Advanced Park is available on the Limited trim. The review also notes that the system can be disabled through the menu if you prefer a more analog driving experience.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It brings a major styling overhaul and a big power increase while keeping the Prius’ fuel-sipping character.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $29,326, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $27,704 average.
• It adds all-wheel drive and a plug-in hybrid option.

The bottom line: If you want the better-looking, more powerful Prius at a steadier used price, the 2023 is the smarter buy. If you’re willing to pay more for the newer model’s added flexibility, the 2024 is worth a look, especially if all-wheel drive or plug-in capability matters to you.
