Is the 2023 Toyota Highlander a good car?

Yes — 4.8/5 is a strong user rating for a midsize SUV that emphasizes comfort and versatility over excitement. The 2023 Highlander is described as practical, well equipped, and family-friendly, with strong utility and a cabin that prioritizes everyday ease. It also offers up to 84.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats folded down, plus standard tech like an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. Is the 2023 Toyota Highlander reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Highlander’s overview points to a reputation for reliability, along with standard Toyota Safety Sense and a straightforward, comfort-first mission. That combination makes it appealing if you want a used SUV that should be easy to live with over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about complexity and more about finding one that has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by family use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Highlander?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, since a clean listing percentage does not replace a full history review. Put the inspection focus on overall condition, especially signs of heavy interior wear, uneven tire wear, or neglected maintenance. Because this model is often chosen for family duty, it makes sense to prioritize examples that look and feel well cared for.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Highlander?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,207 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.50% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $34,290, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Highlander's resale value?

The current average of $34,800 sits slightly below last year's $36,061.

That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle is presented when it comes time to list it. A well-kept Highlander should still benefit from steady demand, especially because it is positioned as a practical, family-oriented SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $32,056, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $34,800 average.
• It emphasizes the basics buyers need most.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2023 if you want the stronger current-market mix of inventory, condition, and pricing. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2022 is the better value play, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
