Is the 2023 Toyota Camry Hybrid a good car?

Yes — your 5/5 user rating lines up with an expert score of 5.5/10. The standout strength is Safety at 7/10.

The 2023 Camry Hybrid is a practical daily driver if you want a fuel-efficient family sedan with easy-to-use technology and strong safety ratings. It also fits buyers who value a familiar mainstream sedan with a long-running reputation for reliability. The trade-offs are that its design may not appeal to everyone and the interior materials can feel cheap.

The market looks healthy, with 36.5% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2023 Toyota Camry Hybrid reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Camry Hybrid’s appeal is rooted in efficiency and everyday usefulness, and it also brings quiet operation and a smooth ride. Toyota includes two years or 25,000 miles of free scheduled maintenance, which helps lower early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a neglected example may not feel as solid or refined as you expect, so condition matters a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Camry Hybrid?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with optional safety equipment or higher mileage. Focus on cabin condition, road noise, and signs of hard use, since the interior materials and overall feel can vary from one example to another.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Nightshade Edition adds bronze wheels, a new Reservoir Blue paint color, black-trimmed headlights and taillights, a TRD mesh grille, black side mirror caps, a black rear spoiler, and black badges. It is available only with SE trim, so base-trim shoppers should expect a simpler look and fewer visual upgrades.
• Powertrain: The hybrid setup uses a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery pack. It delivers 208 horsepower, simulates a CVT, and sends power to the front wheels.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and Intersection Support. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are optional.
• Infotainment: You can get a 7-inch or 9-inch touchscreen. Both support Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa, while the larger screen adds connected navigation and a 9-speaker JBL premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Camry Hybrid returns 46 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2023 Toyota Camry Hybrid trim should I buy?

Here's the short version:

The safety package centers on Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert remain optional.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 657 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.50% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,557, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Camry Hybrid's resale value?

The current average of $25,557 sits slightly below last year's $27,046.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help keep demand steady. If you buy well now, you may have less depreciation left to absorb than a shopper who paid closer to last year’s average. The Camry Hybrid’s broad appeal and practical reputation should continue to support resale interest.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota Camry Hybrid safe?

The 2023 Camry Hybrid earns five-star ratings in every assessment conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), including for rollover resistance. The Camry Hybrid also earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), although that rating applies to 2022 models for calendar year 2022.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and Intersection Support. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are optional.

One caveat is that the updated IIHS side-impact crash test produced a Poor rating, which is worth keeping in mind when you evaluate a used example.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Camry Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The Nightshade Edition adds bronze wheels and Reservoir Blue paint for extra visual flair.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $24,015, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $25,557 average.
• It pairs a hybrid powertrain with front-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission.

The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the current-year pricing trend, strong safety, and the Nightshade Edition’s added style. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the better value play.
